At first glance, Rosies seems old and a little institutional. But don't be put off. It is a very nice and comfortable B&B with nice rooms and an accommodating host. The breakfast was adequate and it was well worth the price.

True, the offered breakfast is on lower youth hostel level. The rooms are clean and big, but very noisy. One could log the activities of the neighbors easily. Annoying: the loud fan noise from the next room. NO AC

We stayed here as a B&B on a travelling holiday. Rosie's is just off the beaten track, just far enough to be quiet but not so far as to be inaccessible. Originally a workmen's hostel for the Derwent Valley newsprint mill in 1956, you feel that not a lot has changed about Rosie's since then (although the plumbing is modern). Despite its age, and maybe a bit more maintenance wouldn't go astray, the rooms are adequate, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was the low point, a bit sparse in variety, continental but without the juices or fruit. We chose it for location, being the first town heading out of Hobart towards the eco-tourist centre of the island. The welcome was warm, and the showers hot. We would seek Rosie's out again if repeating the trip.
