What a fantastic bed and breakfast. Arrived a bit early and was able to drop our bags and go exploring. Annabelle was very knowledgeable of the local area. We came down to the guest's lounge room to soak up the atmosphere of this beautiful building. Fresh pots of tea and coffee were made as we talked about the history of... More

Historic building in lovely Longford, only 10mins out of Launceston. Great base for day trips. Our host Annabelle is most delightful and couldn't be more helpful. Rooms are spacious with ensuites, tea coffee, TV and freshly cut flowers. Brekky's included and there's plenty of it, loved the homemade jams. For dinner The Flagman pub up the road served up the... We loved staying at The Racecourse Inn. Annabelle was charming and made us feel welcome. The Inn is full of lovely antiques, wood and furnishings and the dining/lounge area had a welcoming fireplace. Our bedroom was comfortable with a small ensuite attached. The breakfast provided was absolutely lovely and beautifully presented. It was a lovely experience for us coming from... More

We stayed here twice in a 8 day holiday trip around Tasmania. The first time was in a smaller ground floor bedroom and the second time for three nights in the larger ground floor room. Both rooms were artfully decorated and a pleasant and restful place to spend the night. Annabelle and Richard are charming and warm hosts who made... More

What a find! Beautiful B&B located near the showgrounds in Longford. Cottage garden and period furniture with all modern conveniences. Richard and Annabelle are lovely hosts and everything is spotlessly clean. We stayed in an upstairs room and Annabelle had thoughtfully turned on the air-con for us in advance. Breakfast was over-catered but lovely. Highly recommended. Free WiFi.

Hosts Richard and Annabelle couldn't have been more helpful or accommodating during our week-long say at the Racecourse Inn. The beautiful, historic, heritage building has been lovingly restored and was a delight to come home to at the end of a day's activity, with many areas and attractions conveniently accessible from Longford. We would love to go back there again.

We couldn't fault anything. Annabelle & Richard were the perfect host, the place was spotless with fresh flowers from the garden through out this lovely Georgian home. It was very nice to see how much they cared for our family. Breakfast was lovely with fresh produce from the local farm. Highly recommended. Delphine just like your cat :)

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Racecourse Inn offers fine, heritage accommodation together with warm, country hospitality at Longford, in Tasmania’s northern midlands. This beautifully restored Georgian coaching inn was originally named the “Racecourse Hotel” after the Longford racecourse, Australia’s oldest continuously operating racetrack. With roses trailing over its convict-made brickwork, the picture-perfect two-storey Racecourse Inn, a Georgian B&B (circa 1838), is steeped in the history of Longford, itself one of the earliest villages settled in Tasmania. For those interested in history, the building itself contains some rare and unusual architectural features and period antiques. The Racecourse Inn is the perfect base for touring Northern Tasmania; only 10 minutes from Launceston airport, 20 minutes from the centre of Launceston and one hour from the Spirit of Tasmania terminal in Devonport. Our five en-suite guest rooms have been individually furnished with period antiques with the comfort of the traveller in mind. Upstairs are three delightful attic rooms with dormer windows and sloping timber-lined ceilings, and downstairs are two generous bedrooms, including a spacious heritage suite with a king-sized bed, open fireplace and double spa. Your accommodation includes a full cooked and continental breakfast featuring tasty locally sourced Tasmanian ingredients, many of them home-grown and hand picked daily from our kitchen garden and orchard. We are also able to provide evening meals by prior arrangement, and have a fully licenced bar and lounge area. Our beautiful accommodation is only minutes away from Longford’s main tourist attractions, including The World Heritage listed Brickendon and Woolmers Estate, home to the National Rose Garden, at the start of Tasmania’s Heritage Highway. We’re also only a short drive from the Northern Tasmanian wine route and some of the best fly fishing lakes and streams in Australia, including Brumby’s Creek, The Macquarie and South Esk Rivers. ... more   less
