Saffire’s Whisky Weekend is a unique 'experience of a lifetime' for whisky enthusiasts in a spectacular environment full of surprises. Phone Saffire now to avoid missing out on next year’s amazing August Whisky Weekend savouring some of Tasmania’s world-famous whisky and mixing personally with the makers. We had the privilege of partaking in this August 2023 awesome Saffire hospitality experience which included a gala dinner amongst master distillers, and a chauffeur-driven conducted tour with personal memento bottling at the Waubs Harbour distinctive Maritime Distillery in Bicheno. Although my wife doesn’t drink a wee dram, she was very well catered for with paired wines and we will return again soon for a special anniversary filled with more exceptional service.

Flawless. Exactly what I look for. Degustation dinners, and plenty of available activities. I am still thinking about some of the dishes I had. And they were flexible too - meals were adjusted to suit even preferences, and were still outstanding. Great for a babymoon. I would recommend the guided walk to the Wineglass Bay Lookout and the Oyster Farm. To be clear, these were only activities I did, so I am not not in a position to say whether they are better than the other options. I would definitely stay at Saffire if I return to Tasmania. Indeed, Saffire is a reason to return to Tasmania.

Dear LaziestTourist, Thank you for such a wonderful review of your Saffire experience, myself and the entire team are thrilled that you had such an amazing experience with us. Rest assured that our other 16 guided experiences are equally as amazing and could also present a luring temptation to come back down for some fresh Tassie air, if you needed any more tempting. We look forward to welcoming you back hopefully one day soon, Ross

What a picturesque spot! Beautiful views of the Hazard mountains of Freycinet National Park and impressive architecture. Pros Location lovely accommodations the very best staff! Guides for the experiences are exemplary. Comfortable beds and nice linens Well stocked inclusive mini bar Cons Food was quite average with lots of cheese, butter, and cream. We found the depth of flavors to be very one note. There were a few exceptions As a fine jeweler designer , I was aghast at the cheap poor quality jewelry for sale at the hotel. Since Australia produces the very best white South Sea Pearls in the world . I was appalled by the pearls on display for sale… none sourced from Australias beautiful high quality pearlers. Only cheap freshwater options not from Australia.Shame on you! Speaking to management they commented that they don’t sell. Not surprised as the hotel caters to an upscale clientele.

We stayed 4 nights at Saffire as part of a special birthday celebration. I can only describe our stay as absolute perfection. What a blissful place to disconnect from daily life and connect with the glorious nature that surrounds this truly unique and special place. To say we felt pampered is an understatement. The staff are incredibly intuitive and genuinely listen. They take time to tailor little experiences based on those casual conversations. The food is exception, the suites are divine, the location is second to move. Saffire is a genuine all inclusive experience. There is no extra cost for anything. Experiences are incorporated to the rates and honestly, it is physically impossible to eat and drink the included mini bar. No other lodge or resort could possibly live up to the Saffire experience. The only down side is you will never want to stay anywhere else again! I mean, where else will fill a hot water bottle and place it in your bed while you are enjoying the exceptional dinner! What an wonderful, amazing and talented team! This is one of those unmissable bucket list experiences. Jock and Kathy

Dear Gingercrew, A sincere thank you for taking the time to write, delighted that you thoroughly enjoyed your time at Saffire! I was speaking with a guest last night on how much they enjoyed the hot-water bottle surprise, it is funny how the attention to the small details has the greatest impact on a guests time at Saffire. Our Kitchen Brigade will be thrilled to know that they were able to make such a meaningful impact on your time with us. On behalf of the entire property, we all look forward to hosting you again at some stage in the very near future. Safe Travels, Patrick Barrie

From the time you arrive until the time you leave you experience world class service from all the staff. The views from every place in the lodge are breathtaking. Every seat in the restaurant has floor to ceiling views, breakfast lunch and dinner. Rooms have every bell and whistle but are designed for ultimate relaxation and endless little luxuries. We chose to do a boat tour, the most amazing experience! Spectacular scenery and wildlife including whales, dolphins, seals and sea eagles. Our tour guide had an endless source of knowledge about the area and history. The food (so much food) is divine (never ending) with perfectly paired wine. Open bar means they will surprise you with a special whiskey for a night cap. There is a Tasmanian devil enclosure with 6 little devils. This is a MUST bucket list experience not to be missed. We miss it already and will be back. Thank you to all the staff who made my Husband’s birthday an unforgettable experience. ❤️

We recently eloped at Saffire Freycinet, enjoying a 4 night stay in a Private Pavilion. After reading so many amazing reviews, expectations were high – they were not only met but far exceeded! The level of customer service and luxury was unlike anything we have experienced. The suite and facilities are stunning of course and perfectly maintained but the highlight of Saffire is the staff. From the second we were greeted by Doug waiting for us out the front as we arrived, every staff member we interacted with was so friendly, helpful and thoughtful. They knew our names and why we were there, finding ways to slip in extra surprises to make our stay that much more special – delivering a plate of treats to have whilst we got ready for our ceremony, a special extra dessert plate at dinner, returning to our suite to find ‘Congratulations’ written in the sand and our bubble bath full with champagne and glasses waiting. Not to mention the beautiful flowers and card left for us the next day from the manager Patrick. Johanna from the staff was kind enough to act as a witness for our ceremony and she was so lovely it was a pleasure to have her involved. Have to also mention David in the restaurant who was so much fun and just so good at what he does, we were delighted he was our server on our last night so we could thank him personally (and ask what was that wine I had 3 nights ago that I couldn’t remember the name – of course he knew the one without a seconds hesitation). We enjoyed the Warbs Distillery Tour, the Tassie Devil Experience and the Oyster Farm Tour (a must, even if you don’t like oysters like me!). Tom took us out for each of these - he was so enthusiastic and passionate and a great story teller! We also did the ATV tour which was fantastic – we returned home wet and muddy, but of course were offered straight away for our clothes (and shoes!) to be taken care of – they were washed, folded and back in our room by dinner. I also enjoyed a beautiful facial from Jody in the spa on the morning of our wedding, which left me feeling so relaxed and my skin glowing for our photos! The palate restaurant was amazing with a different menu for every meal and the flexibility to mix it up however we wanted. The chefs even delivered dishes themselves every so often which was a lovely touch. We tried so many new foods and flavours during our stay and left dinner every night feeling 100% satisfied and full! We will miss eating dinner every night with that incredible view of the hazards. Saffire is the most expensive accommodation we have ever visited, but it was absolutely worth it. It was the perfect choice for our elopement and I know we will reminisce about how good our stay was for years to come (and hopefully come back for an anniversary or two!).

My husband and I recently stayed at Saffire Freycinet for three nights, including New Year’s Eve. We have been fortunate to stay at many great resorts throughout the world(Borgo Santo Pietro, Huka Lodge and Villa La Coste), but Saffire deserves to be at the top of the list! We had a fantastic experience, coupled with the highest standards of customer service, gourmet food and beautiful accommodations. The staff provided service that made us feel like special guests in a private home. No request was denied, and when we mentioned that we were interested in tasting Tasmania wine, the sommelier setup a private tasting for us in the lounge one afternoon. The activities were world class, as we took a cruise to wineglass Bay(with a shoreline picnic), Did the Oyster Experience, and enjoyed all the activities on the property. The dining room featured casual dining for breakfast and lunch, while dinners were elegant affairs, complete with local wines. The New Years Eve dinner was one we’ll remember! (6 courses paired with special wines). And a special “thank you” to Sharon at the Saffire airport lounge, whom make our visit complete. This deserves to be on everyone’s bucket list.

Another wonderful stay at Saffire. Our entire trip had been booked through our travel agent and although we’d had no direct contract with the lodge, they organised a suggested itinerary based on included activities to ensure we didn’t miss out. The devil sanctuary is well worth a visit as are the included guided hike options. Our favourite this trip though was a beekeeping insight with Rob. It was both informative and amusing as Rob is a hoot with a dry wit. The food was excellent as before and the whole level of service was outstanding. In contrast to other places were it is clear there are struggles on staff post pandemic, Saffire did no appear to be understaffed and indeed a number of staff members were there from our previous visit in 2018. Tasmania is wonderful and a stay at Saffire is a highlight. Many thanks for a fabulous stay.

Everything else is downhill from here after experiencing Saffire. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted and shown to our room which was absolutely beautiful, with the most amazing view. Honestly, there was barely a spot in the entire place that had didn't have an amazing view-- you can sit and have dinner (as much or as little as you'd like, it's all included!) watching the sun set over the bay and enjoying the beauty of nature. The staff is wonderful and was so understanding and helpful with every single one of our requests, no matter how big or small. The team that took us on excursions: Nichole, Gareth, and Jordan, such a wonderful job. So much attention to detail that made exploring Freycinet such a great experience. Alpha, who both greeted us and said farewell, and provided us with instruction on how everything in our suite worked and answered any questions we had. I'm terrible with names so I can't remember any other names off the top of my head, but the staff did such a wonderful job making us feel welcome and cared for, they even packed little sandwiches for our drive back to Hobart since we wouldn't have time to stop for food! Thank you again for everything, it was amazing and we'll certainly be coming back here again!
