Well tourists we had the most fantastic experience in our stay at Hawley House. The accommodation was great, the food was so varied, delicious and home fresh, the staff brilliant and the Owner was such an inspiration, demonstrating his artistic skills in his personal interaction with his guests. Will always remember Hawley House as one of the best places we have... More

We stayed in the Stables King Loft for 3 nights. The room is quiet, clean and comfortable. The best thing about the place is the food. The dinner meals were the best we had while travelling for a month in Tasmania. The accommodation is close enough to Narawntapu, Latrobe, and Burnie for a day visit. The only problem we had... More

A family home nestled at the end of the road with the grandeur history to match some of the best historical properties of Australia. The National Trust may be able to find some funds for this glorious piece of history. Leave some time to explore this working property and fully appreciate its size and place in Tasmanian history.

As with so many homes dotting the area, this house exudes layers of history. Built in the 1870's, it still retains many of its original features. Period furniture is in all the rooms of the main house plus a piano, other musical instruments and a fire place. The creme de la creme was the extensive wine cellar abutting the elegant... More

This was our indulgent over-nighter before day departure on the Spirit of Tasmania. We loved the experience. Just driving up the white gravel driveway from the end of the road, through the overhanging bushes to the old house set us up for a nice night's stay and we couldn't wait to dump our bags in our room and go for... Quirky does not do this fabulous place justice. It is much, much more that that. From the flower draped approach road from Hawley Beach to the character filled old house, this place is different with a capital D. The stable conversion rooms have lost nothing in character and the high wooden ceilings provide a backdrop for the beautiful verandah windows... More

Having just stayed two nights at Hawley House, I would like to remind readers that not everything, which is valuable in life, needs to be measured in dollars. Some have been critical, claiming that it doesn’t live up to a so-called 4 or 5 star rating. If readers want something pristine and sterile and to be pandered to then no,... More

If you're looking for luxury, this is not for you. If, however, you want to step back in time a little, then you will love Hawley House. The bathrooms are very basic but adequate and clean. There is a library and a lounge where drinks are served. A continental breakfast is free but you can order a cooked breakfast for... More

My mum and I just got back from a 5-day road trip around Tassie for my 30th and Hawley House was our last stop. It was the best place we stayed on the whole trip! We had the Governess Room upstairs which comfortably slept my mum in one section and me in another part. The room was spotlessly clean, the... More

We loved everything about Hawley House! For those looking for a shiny 5 star accommodation experience - this place is not for you, however if like us you enjoy staying somewhere tranquil, with a rich history, lots of interesting & quirky features, along with relaxed, friendly service, then you will adore this place too. We enjoyed exploring the sprawling gardens,... More
