My family enjoyed the peaceful surrounds of Peppers cradle mountain lodge. We had a wombat right outside our window and a pademelon (rufus wallaby) that was nearby our front door. The kids got to build a snowman and delighted to throw snow balls. The lodge is beautifully appointed. Breakfast was great. The lounge with massive open fire was amazing. We... More

Cradle mountain has been on my non -existent bucket list for some time. Checked the website and decided to include Peppers Cradle Mountain lodge in our Tassie adventure this time. What a mistake. Pencil Pine Cabin not as advertised. Many inclusions missing. The photo you see of the lake in front of the lodge is really just a duck pond... More

We stayed a couple of nights, and an arctic blast had hit Tassie. We were snowed in on the first night, however, the staff were very helpful and patient. We had a wonderful time, given the circumstances. It was an excellent experience and a thoroughly enjoyable break.

The cabins are cosy and comfortable and in a close proximity to the park entry. Our cabin featured a comfortable double with nice, easy to use gas fireplace. The bathroom was basic when compared to the room but ok. There is no phone service and the WiFi doesn't extend to the rooms (in fact it doesn't even work at the... More

Good afternoon Jason P, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us here at the lodge. We are very disappointed to hear that you did not enjoy your time in Cradle Mountain with us. My partner and I had a lovely time. The snow was beautiful, hotel and kitchen staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. They really made us feel welcome hence service receives 5 stars from me. We booked a traditional cabin and were complimentary-upgraded to a spa suite which was appreciated. The room is great with a very warm fire place. I... More

We stayed in a King billy Suite which was very large and very comfortable, with it`s own outdoor hot tub on the landing which drew and audience of possums at night that kept us company. The bathroom is huge with a walkin robe and vanity on entry full size bath as well as sep shower, in the living area a... More

Just spent four days at this beautiful property. What a great place to escape the rat race we live in. Peace, relaxation and pampering in an idyllic location - what more could you ask for! Our king billy suite did not disappoint complete with log fire and outdoor hot tub - we loved it. Customer service was always excellent. Daniel... More

This hotel is in a fantastic location and the cabin we had was really nice if in need of some attention. Curtains missing hooks and hanging down and a few other minor issues just lowered the standard we expected. Check in and out was good as was the food in the restaurant, even if it was on the expensive side... More

We went to stay for 2 nights, ended up there 4 nights. What a magical place in the world. The cabins are super cosy with easy to use gas fireplaces. There were lots of wild wombats wandering all around the place. There are several great walks that go straight from the resort itself, plus the ones on cradle Mountain. Not... More

We had difficulty reaching this proper after the recent floods, and damage to the roads that occurred that day, some guests were offered alternative accommodation the same courtesy was not extended to us. We were advised to take this up with central reservations, they then referred us back to the property directly and would not waiver the tariff for the... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Peppers Cradle Mountain Lodge is a unique wilderness experience, set right on the edge of the spectacular World Heritage-listed Cradle Mountain-Lake St. Clair National Park, just 2 hours drive from Launceston and 1.25 Hours from Devonport. At Cradle Mountain, you'll soon discover that fine food and wine are an unavoidable part of this rustic holiday. This superb escape showcases the best Tasmania has to offer with warm hospitality, sensational locally produced food and wine, breathtaking scenery and magnificent wilderness surrounds. The Lodge itself is warm and inviting with open fires, comfy chairs and cosy spots, perfect for enjoying the postcard views or just relaxing. Around Peppers Cradle Mountain Lodge there are more than 20 walking trails that suit every fitness level. Imagine wandering through towering forests with trees older than mankind. Discover animal and plant varieties found nowhere else on earth. You can trek mountains, explore trails on horseback or mountain bike, and learn to fly-fish - just some of the many activities on offer. And when it's time to relax, guests can indulge in a therapeutic massage or sauna at the Waldheim Alpine Spa - the perfect place to soak away tension and time. Set discreetly within its pristine wilderness setting, Peppers Cradle Mountain Lodge has 86 private timber cabins, offering 4 grades of accommodation. Each provides every comfort you could need, some with spa baths. Road Closures: There are a number of road closures around Tasmania at the moment that are affecting accessibility to Cradle Mountain. The Kimberley bridge in between Elizabeth town and Railton on the B13 is closed until further notice as the bridge has collapsed. The C138 from Mole Creek to Gowrie Park is inaccessible as the road has been closed due to the recent flooding. The C137 however from Mole Creek through Paradise just outside of Sheffield is open and a good way to bypass around the closures. For additional information please refer to the Tas police and Kentish council websites to get the most up to date information.
