Our lodge trip began with the most stressful part of our trip: getting from Launceston to the Lodge. After the previous night's unexpected snow fall, we contacted the reception and were informed as to the quality of the roads, which route to take in order to avoid flooded bridges and inaccessible mountain roads, and how long it would take in... We had a spa suite which was a good size for a couple of days, room to spread out. The fire was lit on arrival and a tasting platter was delivered to our door, a lovely touch. A little disappointed there wasnt any wifi in the room as there is no phone reception. We took the package with the meal,... More

This is a beautiful place the cabins are cosy, the walks and views are amazing and the staff are all very lovely and professional. But it lacked in other areas the bathrooms near the tavern were atrocious and stayed like that all day. The restaurant wasn't as good as I was expecting. It could be a great place but it... More

Dear Katrina G, Thank you for your review. Firstly, may I apologise regarding your experience with the bathrooms near the tavern. I have shared your feedback with our Housekeeping manager for attention and rectification. During our recent heavy snow events, we have had to redeploy staff across the operation to assist in trying conditions, and it would appear that the... More

Amazing, wonderful place to visit. Winter turned on the snow turning it into a truely beautiful and amazing place to see. The cabin was warm and comfortable and if there was any fault I could pick it would only be that the bed was a little hard to sleep on. The staff were friendly and helpful and the food was delicious.... More

We had a nice Contemporary Chalet with Spa Bath and the rooms are spacious and modern, the bathroom not so much. Nice fire place but no tv - not that you want to spend all your time sitting in the room but it would have been nice for the end of the day. The restaurant was delicious, staff were fantastic... Stayed in a spa cabin with woodfire. The woodfire made a great romantic feel, especially in the snow. Had dinner at the Highlander restaurant (must book!) and it was beautiful with great service. We didn't take fancy to anything on the entrée menu though so opted for dessert. Beautiful honey cake, however no warm desserts on offer - found this... More

We visited recently when there was snow and were a little hesitant about ordering meals as the place was packed. We received our meals very quickly and then sat around the circular wood heater for a warm and a wine. We will definitely be back again!

Lodge is in great location. Bed was super uncomfortable, but the room was great with a fake wood fire. Terrrible wifi connection at the moment. Maximum 5 guests at a time and only in one sitting room.

Dear jocO5795WO, Thank you for your review. We are proud of our iconic lodge located in the heritage listed wilderness of Cradle Mountain. I apologise your bed did not meet your expectations of comfort. Without getting into the Goldilocks and the 3 bears conundrum, we certainly appreciate the feedback. We have recorded your comment as an area for improvement as... More

For those who have a love of nature there is ample wildlife and its a cosy secluded place to stay in winter. There are ample walks to be had from the resort. There is no shops per se so best be prepared also no atm's.

The lodge is situated in an absolutely amazing spot. I found the Enchanted Walk so inspiring. We stayed in a King Billy Suite and it was worth the extra expense. The suite was spacious and well equipped. We had a few furry friends come visit which was lovely. We did enjoy the outdoor hot tub even though the temperature would... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Peppers Cradle Mountain Lodge is a unique wilderness experience, set right on the edge of the spectacular World Heritage-listed Cradle Mountain-Lake St. Clair National Park, just 2 hours drive from Launceston and 1.25 Hours from Devonport. At Cradle Mountain, you'll soon discover that fine food and wine are an unavoidable part of this rustic holiday. This superb escape showcases the best Tasmania has to offer with warm hospitality, sensational locally produced food and wine, breathtaking scenery and magnificent wilderness surrounds. The Lodge itself is warm and inviting with open fires, comfy chairs and cosy spots, perfect for enjoying the postcard views or just relaxing. Around Peppers Cradle Mountain Lodge there are more than 20 walking trails that suit every fitness level. Imagine wandering through towering forests with trees older than mankind. Discover animal and plant varieties found nowhere else on earth. You can trek mountains, explore trails on horseback or mountain bike, and learn to fly-fish - just some of the many activities on offer. And when it's time to relax, guests can indulge in a therapeutic massage or sauna at the Waldheim Alpine Spa - the perfect place to soak away tension and time. Set discreetly within its pristine wilderness setting, Peppers Cradle Mountain Lodge has 86 private timber cabins, offering 4 grades of accommodation. Each provides every comfort you could need, some with spa baths. Road Closures: There are a number of road closures around Tasmania at the moment that are affecting accessibility to Cradle Mountain. The Kimberley bridge in between Elizabeth town and Railton on the B13 is closed until further notice as the bridge has collapsed. The C138 from Mole Creek to Gowrie Park is inaccessible as the road has been closed due to the recent flooding. The C137 however from Mole Creek through Paradise just outside of Sheffield is open and a good way to bypass around the closures.
