Detailed Reviews
The Place - Moments B&B at 86 Fletcher St, Wentworth Falls, Blue Mountains, Sydney
The View - STUNNING!!
The Hosts - Hospitable, Generous, and Really Nice
The Suite - Nicely appointed, almost opulent yet homely. Highlights are the heated Bathroom with the 2 person SPA & Jacuzzi (Best!)
We could only spend 2 nights there but really wished we had another 2 weeks to stay. The view when you wake up in the morning is nothing short of spectacular, visually stunning is a better word. If it wasn't so cold (10 deg c in winter when we were there), we would have been most happy just staying on the private patio outside our room to just enjoy coffee and the view.
The hostess, Rita Fisher, was warm, friendly and generous in hospitality. The room was stocked with so many complimentary amenities that we actually felt spoilt for choice on where to begin!
Eating places were few but the Conservation Hut 50metres down on Fletcher St serves the Best Breakfast. Must try are the Sauteed Mushrooms with Poached egg and toast, walnut bread with banana and syrup, and my favourite - Scrambled eggs, Bacon and toast (as good as Bills in Liverpool st, sydney downtown, but cheaper and portions much bigger)
All in, it was a great stay and we will be back!!

We had just two nights at Moments in the Wentworth Room as it was our treat to ourselves as it's a little on the expensive side, however it was worth it.
Beautiful room, with separate bathroom and spa bath, good shower too. The private veranda was exactly that, although the views are better from the other verandas, ours was totally separate, rather than just blocked off by plants from the other guests. Worth the extra money. There was free wi-fi and a laptop we could use, and lots of local information.
Wentworth Falls is much less touristy that nearby Katoomba and we preferred that. The midday check out time was also a good bonus.
I would recommend having a car, as we found that local restaurants didn't do delivery just pick-up and Moments is a fair walk from the train station.
All in, a great place to stay.

Charming B&B in Wentworth Falls.
The rooms are spacious and comfortable, with an awesome view across the valley.
Service was friendly and the breakfast very hearty.
Great location - moments away from some picturesque walking trails.

We searched for what we thought would be the best quality/value in Katoomba and came across “Moments Echo Point” at $350 per night. We received a welcoming letter upon arrival advising the fireplace was ready for us and to enjoy. There was a small disclaimer at the bottom of the page saying firewood could be purchased for an extra $25. Being a self contained cottage we assumed it would have the basics, however there was no washing machine or dish washer.
We had paid extra to accommodate five people however only bedding for four was prepared. The management had decided the last bed did not need to be made up as the second double could accommodate two people. Our children did not want to share the other bed and since we had paid for the extra person needed to locate the extra linen to make it up.
On the way in we passed the cleaner who had yet to finish at check in time. He advised the rubbish was overflowing so just to leave our rubbish behind the bin. The sink which he must have just cleaned was full of black gunk which I assume was from BBQ equipment. The showers had mould and the crockery was greasy.
The location was fantastic and could be described as cosy but for four star accommodation this fell short.

I booked one of the cottages close to the three sisters for my mum and aunts visit from wa. While an older home the property was well appointed, clean and convenient location. I booked directly online noting that there were three people staying and we were all related. Being self contained, I expected a few guidelines, but I have to say I was a bit disappointed that amongst all the rules, there was advice that if we had two people staying we had to use only one room. Well problem there was three of us and we were all related. No trouble I located the fold out bed In the front foyer area -no privacy which was semi made and hoped that I wouldn't see an additional cost on my cc. Note if you have more than one car check what options you have for parking as it is opposite the car park for the lookout so parking is timed. Overall good location, comfortable for two couples if you want a weekend.away without frills.

Stayed here for one night in July for a quick getaway. Location and facility was lovely. We had seen all the room and specifically picked the room everyone recommended only to arrive and find we had been 'upgraded' to another room that had very little privacy. The information that was provided in the room was out if date and if we needed anything we had to go out and find it in the common lounge which was freezing cold. The fire didn't work in our room and they had only provided minimal towels. When the shower was used the next day it flooded the shower area and adjacent carpet (no privacy). When we rang reception for more towels and help we were told we would have to wait for 2 hours. The continental breakfast was stale. For the price we paid for this romantic getaway that turned into a comedy of errors it wasn't worth the price.

Dear Ally, We apologise for not living up to our reputation and to our mission, of “ensuring guests have the experience they are seeking and will want to return for more”. If availability allows, we occasionally offer an optional upgrade to one of our more popular Open-Plan suites. The unique layout with the in-room double spa opposite to the fireplace is meant to increase the romantic mood, and we’re truly sorry that our best intentions backfired in this instance. We agree that your experience sounds like a comedy of errors, and we are very sorry. If you could please contact us directly (reception@moments.com.au), we’d be delighted to welcome you again to offer you a typical moments experience. All the very best for now, Rob & Rita Fisher Owners

We paid $300 per night for two nights at the b&b. What a disappointment. The room has a wonderful view, yes, and is perfectly clean and comfortable. But for that kind of money, we were expecting a place with wow factor, and this didn't have it. Breakfast was cold muffins and bread, yogurt, Kellogg cereal and canned fruit under clingfilm in our kitchenette. The room was noisy, right next to the front door, which banged several times through the night as guests came and went. The decor of the room was, frankly, cheap and nasty, with a metal hanging frame that looked like it came from OfficeWorks and other non-charming touches. Can't believe we spent $600 and our only weekend away for 2012 in this place.

Extreamly dissapointing!
The View road cottage is cold, mouldy, dirty, and un-inviting to romantic couples.Every cottage in the Beautiful Blue Mountains we stayed at provided fresh milk, sample chocolates, cereal, bread or toast and other suprise treats and a clean warm romantic environment and local brochures to be used un-like View road.
Even the back yard and decking to look at the view was dirty and also un-safe. The decking to meet Australian safety standard needs to have hand-railing around it. The outside spotlight fills with water when it rains as the roof sheets have no gutter attached. The only So called WOW as stated on the website would be WOW how Dirty the place is and WOW the small TV and free stained couches and cushions and cupboards and kitchen floor.
It may pass as a 2.5 star Backpacker accomodation worth about $90p/n but thats it!!!
We were notified that we had left a pair of glasses there and arranged to pick them up at the main Moments house in which we wish we had of booked instead as it was Beautiful.

Response from momentsManager, Owner at moments Mountain Retreat
Responded Nov 2, 2010
The team at Moments Accommodation strive to achieve a consistent high standard of accommodation and level of service. We receive feedback and reviews of commendation confirming our high standard. We also receive feedback from guests bringing things to our attention that were not ‘OK’ at the time of their stay, which has assisted us in maintaining our high standard. We value direct communication if our standards are ever compromised as this enables us to rectify problems immediately. Unfortunately we did not receive direct feedback from ‘Patto69’ during their stay, or when they returned to pick up the glasses they had left behind. In fact they commented positively about their stay. If we had been informed that our standards had been compromised we would have taken immediate action to address the problems. Moments has since communicated with ‘Patto69’ to acknowledge and discuss the issues raised in the above review and to offer our apology. Further to this, we have made contact with other guests who stayed at the same property during July/August 2010 to ascertain if they had experienced any problems and we specifically asked them about the cleanliness of the property. July is the busiest month for tourism in the Blue Mountains and we wanted to ascertain whether our standards had been compromised at other times during this busy period. A summary of all ‘uncensored’ responses follows: •Guest response 1: reported that they had no problems and had a very enjoyable stay. They said the apartment was fantastic, very comfortable and of a good standard. They also said that from what they could remember it was clean and stocked with all the necessities and also included a small carton of milk for their next morning coffee. They mentioned that their partner is very fussy regarding cleaning and that she would have definitely noticed if anything was out of order. They were also pleasantly surprised by some of the little touches such as the heaters being on so that it was warm for their arrival. •Guest response 2: said they were very impressed with the comfortable and spotless property. They said they enjoyed their brief stay and that they even recommended the house with its ample space to friends. They told us that if the opportunity should arise, they would be keen to request a stay in the same property. They mentioned that the views are incredible from the rear and in their opinion the house has really been planned well to span a wide expanse of the Blue Mountains. They said that lots of lovely ‘Moments' were enjoyed and thanked us. •Guest response 3: told us they had a great time at our property and that everything was nicely set, and the property itself was just beautiful. Many of their company said they will definitely go back there with their family or friends. They pointed out one thing that was not OK which was that the BBQ was a bit messy and greasy but they stressed that everything else was perfect. They thanked us for the good time they had at our place. •Guest response 4: let us know that they really enjoyed their stay and had no complaints! •Guest response 5: informed us that they and their friends absolutely loved our property in View Rd and had only one suggestion which was to trim the trees out the back for a bit of a better view – they said that they all felt like they were at home. They thanked us and told us they will be sure to be back soon. •Guest response 6: told us that they had a great stay at the location they stayed at. They said it was very clean, very professional and had a great view as well and thanked us for all of our efforts. •Guest response 7: wanted us to know that the property was fine and everything was to a good standard except for the tiles in the kitchen/dining room. They found them to be sticky under their feet especially in the kitchen. They told us that they cleaned the floors again on the day of their arrival and it lessened the stickiness but however it was still sticky. They thought maybe a new mop would be suitable and that other than that it was great. In relation to other issues raised by ‘Patto69’: •We are not sure why the house was described as ‘cold’ - there are 2 gas heaters and a large reverse cycle air-conditioner in the living areas, as well as small electric blow heaters in every bedroom. •There was a small TV in place at the time of ‘Patto69’s visit due to the large TV having malfunctioned suddenly (it was sitting in the garage) – Moments is currently upgrading all IT to flat screen wall-mounted TVs and could not arrange this at short notice. We take on board we should have personally explained the situation. •We advise that the back deck does meet Australian Safety Standards. The actual measurement from the deck to the ground below the deck is within the guidelines and does not require a railing. Please note: Moments continues to provide and encourage direct feedback opportunities for guests by displaying prominent phone details in each property for immediate or urgent contact, as well as providing a feedback form for guests to complete at the end of their stay. We apologise again to ‘Patto69’.

We spent a total of 10 nights in New south wales, and found all but two most enjoyable. Moments was one of the two disappointments. It was a toss-up betw Moments and its neighbouring B&B Valley of the Water. Despite paying almost A$50 more, I decided to go with Moments because of the log fire (my hubbie loves to do log fire). So it was really upsetting to find out that you have to pay $25 more to light up the fire. We've been to western australia and Victoria and we never had to pay to light a fire.
Moreover, there is no separate bathroom - the spa bath-cum-shower sat in the middle of the room. Some may find it charming but we found it a little cumbersome. because of the spa bath, there was little space in the room for our bags (two pieces). The so-called private deck is actually part of a long patio but seperated by potted plants. And there was no indication at the booking centre that it was a no-smokiing accomodation.
The central heating didn't kick in so we had to use the small portable heater which woke us up a few times in the night with the noise generated when the heater started up automatically.
Nearly all the B&Bs we've been at in Australia, the owners provided the personal touch with their warm and welcoming ways. But at Moment, the lady greeting us was not the owner (despite what it said on their website), and lacked the warm touch even though she was pretty efficient.
But I can't find any fault with the view. It's fabulous. But I could have spent $50 less at the other B&B for the same view.

Unfortunately, booking through a third party may result in guests having some misconceptions. We clarify issues below: 1. There is an open fire in the guest lounge room. As not all guests use the fireplace in their suite/room, we set the tariff for the suite/room and give guests the option to have and pay for a fire in their suite/room. The fire is not necessary for heating, it is used for ambience. This tariff structure results in a lower tariff for guests who do not use the fireplace. 2. The open plan suites are our most popular. Our other suite and room do have full bathrooms as an ensuite. 3. The suites/room have a luggage rack and a 1.2mtr wardrobe/shelving unit. We have had many guests from Singapore and many have commented that the suites are larger than their apartment in Singapore. 4. The suites/room are private. The 3mtr wide verandah is divided by a 1.5mtr wall to the ceiling, and a further 1mtr wide x 1.4mtr high hedge plant. 5. We are non smoking in the house and have a designated smoking area in the garden, which is noted on our website. 6. The central heating is thermostat controlled. The fan heater is used if guests want the suite/room to be warmer. This system has worked successfully for over 10 years. 7. moments is a successful medium sized business, with 4 B & B suites/room and 4 self contained cottages. We live on the premises. We do employ staff, who are customer focussed and deliver a standard of service as good as the service we provide ourselves, as evidenced by comments in other reviews.

Dear Joym522, We have quite a few guests that travel her by public transport. Getting to the Blue Mountains by train takes 2 hours from Sydney. Rail services operate from Sydney to Lithgow, stopping at all major villages throughout the mountains. You can view up to date timetables on the NSW City rail website. We have links to this on our website also. Once you arrive you hop off at Wentworth Falls Station. From Wentworth Falls Station you can take a short Taxi Ride to moments as it is just under 4km from the station. If you need any more information please don't hesitate to contact us. Warm regards, Bibi
