Like out of a dream. This place has the rustic charm and remoteness that one fantasizes about. It’s all about the beach and living like The Swiss Family Robinson. Truly. Be prepared to share your space with the occasional jungle critters (a big spider and/or lizards may find their way into your hut) but so long as you know that this is their territory and you’re just a visitor, you will accept it as just part of the scene. And they won’t bother you. The restaurant and wait staff are absolutely incredible. Our six year old mentioned how much he loved soursop and later that day a staff member delivered one to us. The owner (Lucas) is a sweetheart and he maintains the property well and wants to attract people who really get Yelapa. Don’t forget to enjoy the Pie Lady who will come down the beach during the early afternoon hours. Thank you to the wonderful staff and your welcoming energy. We will be back.

To be fair, it was during a full moon and the palapa ride was sheer torture, so that set me up with a mood. The cabin was like camping and because I left the next day instead of staying for 3 days I had to pay for 2 days which was $180 USD. Much more than my gorgeous sparkling clean hotel in PV. The pool is made of boulders, you need to be a yoga teacher to get in and out. The cabin was so close to the water beating the rocks that we couldn't sleep or talk to each other. The sand on the beach hurts your feet, I don't know why but it does. The beach vendors are with you constantly and will sell you drugs if you like. I don't. Everything closes up pretty early and there isn't much there so no big loss.

Don’t get me wrong. This place is very cool. Authentic huts, really cool pool, and an amazing view from the room! The idea of it is really great. The restaurant is also fantastic. It seems like at one time it was a really happening place. But it is now very run down and poorly maintained. My fiancé and I have never had a worse bed to sleep on, we both woke up very sore. Pillows were very lumpy. Light fixtures hang off the walls, tarps are up to fill gaps, it was dirty, mosquito net has holes and doesn’t close on the ends. We both woke up scratching. Linens and towels were good and the staff were great. Just definitely needs a facelift and it would be extremely awesome.

I cannot understand how anyone can give this hotel more than 2 stars. For what I paid I was incredibly disappointed. Let me say that the two positive things were the staff and the great beach location. The rooms though were so dilapidated I felt I would have rather pitched my own tent. My room was not the beach front cabin as promised but up the hill a good trek from the beach area. The first thing I noticed beyond the simplicity was how dirty the room seemed. Probably a fresh coat of paint would help. There was a huge hole in the mosquito net, the pillows were so lumpy I felt like I was sleeping on a pillowcase filled with balled up socks. Lumpy hard bed as well. There’s no place to hang anything so towels just hang over the doorway. The whole place was grimy. Had I only paid $20 a night I would have sucked it up but I paid way, way more than that. My friend stayed at an Airbnb for the same price that was cheery and comfortable in town close to good food and an easy walk to the river or beach. Don’t stay at Lagunitas!!!

Location is unbeatable and the concept of the individual cabins is great. However, it is careless and there's a lack of maintenance in the room: the towels are unraveled, the room is dirty, the fan in the room can not be adjusted, etc. In the time we were there, it seemed the room was never cleaned, only the towels were changed. Outside, gardens can also be improved and weed cut so that there are not so many bugs in the room.
