Unfortunately we did not end up in one of the spacious quiet rooms with nice views as referred to in other reviews. Room 9 was uncomfortably small (nowhere to put your bags and could only just about walk around small double bed) and it overlooked the busy A29. It was hot so we had to have the windows open so...

We were expecting more from a hotel for £140 per night. It was nice, but a bit tatty and a tiny bathroom. I wouldn't pay this much. The breakfast was good and the staff were nice but it was more like a b&b.

Used the Chequers to accommodate my extended family for my son's wedding at Bartholomew Barn. We booked the whole hotel for two nights and had a fantastic time. The owners were so welcoming and provided a superb buffet for all the family on Friday evening. All rooms were very good - clean and well appointed. Staff were attentive but not...

This is a well maintained and beautifully appointed hotel with welcoming hosts and delicious food. We were upgraded to the four poster room on the first floor with antique/vintage furniture and an ensuite bathroom with a shower over a roll-topped bath. Dinner was served in the candle-lit conservatory and was excellent. Modern British food is served from a menu with...

Well appointed, clean and comfortable room. We had opted for a superior room which was spacious and quiet. The breakfasts were delicious and a good size. (We did not need lunch after.) There is a nearby footpath which takes you down the hill, via a field, to the town.

The reception was welcoming, the rooms clean and the breakfast excellent in a spotless restaurant area, highly recommended. Parking was fine and the menu looked plentiful so I can highly commend this location for business and pleasure purposes. Well done.

Booked two rooms. One on ground floor for elderly parents and first floor for us. Rooms were spacious, good quality furniture and full of character. Evening meal in restaurant was gorgeous and lots of choice for breakfast. We enjoyed a pre dinner drink in the garden. It was lovely. The owners were great and extremely friendly and efficient. We have...

My husband and I stayed here for two nights and booked through booking.com. We had a downstairs room as I have mobility problems. It was comfortable and warm and we were made to feel very welcome. Both the owners were very friendly and had time to talk to us. Breakfast was good both days but latest time was 9am which...
