Many reviews say it is overpriced but they have 2 for 1 deals on homemade pies and burgers midweek. Great food and friendly staff. No complaints here. Despite its village location they have tried to give it a feel that is a mix of modern and traditional. Personally I think they should make it look more traditional.

We called in for lunch on a day's cycling trip. We know the food is good, and generally good value. My cheese board came with plenty of cheese but only one slice of bread. They charged £3 for another!

Never go back, that;s what we said last time, but today we did, if only because we were cycling and the Winged Spur (next nearest pub) is closed and up for sale. All we wanted was a pint and a sandwich each, Good choice of sandwiches were advertised with salad and chips at £5.95, that's not bad around here @... More

The Bell looks promising, charming village location, rustic interior, plenty of self promotion about quality of sourcing, 'fiercely independent of chains' etc... The reality is poorly cooked pub grub at top end gastro pub prices. I had haddock fillet (which hadn't been de-boned) with a tiny amount of lumpy garlic mash, which was literally drowning in butter. One of the... More

I have often wondered about the Bell as a work colleague had stayed previously but had never taken the plunge and chosen it. However with hotels locally impacted on by events at the NEC last Monday 7th March it was Hobson's choice and I booked in. For what is really a village pub I did feel that the price was... More

Visited the restaurant mid-week with friends for lunch. Warm welcome and interesting modern decor except for the wall covered with a large image of an egg in a frying pan! Varied menu including a two for one offer on a pie or burger meal Monday to Wednesday. Unfortunately a vegetarian option not available on this choice. Good beer and the... More

I originally planned to spend 4 nights here, but had to change to one night due to a family emergency back home cutting my trip short- I flew out from Heathrow the next day. The staff were very accommodating with this change. The room was well furnished and a comfortable bed. Only complaint was that the shower and toilet weren't... More

First time here for a business lunch. The food was amazing - would highly recommend the pie. The establishment do their own home made pie, which is just scrumptious. The furnishing, decor and service are fabulous. Was very impressed and will visit again.

No idea why so many negative reviews. We went here for a 40th birthday meal as two couples. We ordered starters, mains and desserts. It was all fantastic and to the high standards we expect. The Malbec wine was very nice and well priced at £20, so good we ordered 3 in total! Don't be put off by previous reviews... More

Room quality seemed to be furnished from a car boot sale. Lots of things did not work. Cramped and pokey although generally clean. OK if you paid £35 but you expect better from a place like this. When we pointed these issues out to the Manager he got quite aggressive ! Do not stay here.
