Went here for lunch recently with friends, the food was delicious and plentiful. The pub is really nicely decorated in a very pretty village, would definitely like to go back for dinner. It was popular for lunch so might be worth booking.

The best Sunday lunch Ever!!, even beats the mother in law!!! Fantastic food, at reasonable prices with extra gravy (without even asking) is a bonus. Fantastic meat from Barry the butcher.. Can not recommend this place enough. Oh and to top it off they have Timothy Taylor on cask!!

Have visited the Howard Arms several times now when walking in the area. The food is fantastic and the staff are very helpful and obliging. Wonderful atmosphere as lots of very friendly locals from the village use the Howard Arms for both eating and just for a drink and it is very busy most nights. Food is well cooked with... More

We arrived at the Howard Arms in Ilmington, one warm mid afternoon, having driven from Suffolk. We were meeting friends driving from Somerset - idea was to get together in a nice place, have a good dinner, stay overnight, and have a thoroughly good catch up. Howard Arms fitted this bill perfectly. From the pleasant shaded and lawned garden - where... More

Went on a Friday night with friends, was lovely to sit out in the garden and have a couple of drinks. Good atmosphere in the pub and lovely layout. Food and service at the table let it down. Had to ask to get served another drink when it was clear we didn't have any glasses on the table. I had... More

Had a lunch here and we both decided to have a couple of starters rather than a main, all of the starters were first class, well cooked food nicely presented. Service was welcoming and nicely relaxed.

Stayed for a family celebration. Every aspect was excellent. We booked 5 rooms - they were all spacious, nicely decorated, distinctive, quiet and had great beds. So often when booking for a group, a couple of the rooms are good, but never all of them. On this occasion, every one had a lovely room and bathroom, combining a mixture of... More

Visited here on a friends recommendation, what a find. Beautiful old building with different seating areas. Well stocked bar, amazing food and cheerful staff. The menu (and wine list) made us linger over the choices, difficult to choose when there was so much choice. Food was beautifully presented and delicious and obviously all home made, more could you want?! We... More

It's always a pleasure to eat, and stay, at the Howard Arms. Many Guides make great - and artificial - play of the 'fact' that there's a mixture of locals and visitors in the bar at the pubs they're featuring: in the case of the Howard Arms, it happens also to be true. Vibrant atmosphere. Friendly and professional service; well-presented... More
