The Running Horses is a perfect country inn at the heart of picturesque Mickleham village in the Surrey hills. Step inside and you’ll discover one of the most charming places to eat and stay in Surrey. Dating back to the 16th century, it was once a coaching house. Back in those days, the inn’s clientele provided rich pickings for highwaymen. Thankfully, things are a little more peaceful these days, but some traditions live on. You’ll still find wonderful home-cooked British food, made with the freshest ingredients, accompanied by a wine list to compare with the top restaurants. The Running Horses has been family owned and run for the last fifteen years. And because we’re not part of a chain, the inn is full of character and individual touches. You’re guaranteed a warm welcome from the moment you enter the cosy bar with its roaring log fire.

No Staff available to serve behind the bar; no drinkable beer as it was the end of the barrel - why not have a reserve?; no glasses available to pour beer into. Just ridiculously awful. There to satisfy owner ego Davies

Hi there, thank you for another review. The standard of beer we serve is very important to us, being a family owned business and holding a top cask mark rating. We always ensure barrels are changed in the correct way to maintain the standard of the beer we serve. As I'm sure you're aware, this process is not instant and can take up to 5 minutes when done properly, meaning at times, a member of the bar team will have to momentarily leave the bar and go to the cellar. With regards to your statement about the Davies family 'ego', I'm unsure as to what it is you're specifically commenting on, and would ask you to refrain from making any further unpleasant comments of this nature, as it seems to be a regular topic within your reviews. If it's something you'd like to discuss further then I'd be more than happy to do so. You can contact a member of the management team on 01372 372279. Kind Regards.
