We stayed here for just one night and also booked into the restaurant for dinner. We received a warm welcome when we arrived and was shown to our room. The hotel followed covid guidelines, the staff were all wearing face masks throughout. We went to the bar before dinner, all table service. The food for dinner was amazing. recommend the crumble desert. Breakfast was delicious too! The room was very comfortable and very clean. It was a wonderful experience, will definitely return.
To start with - had the yummiest Sunday lunch and best halloumi fries I’ve had anywhere - perfect batter consistency! This unfortunately was let down by a communication issue between HQ and the pub. They don’t have an individual landline, so if you call the number on Google it goes to their HQ. Tried to do the right thing by calling ahead to say we were running a bit behind on our walk (5-10mins) and was told that it wouldn’t be a problem. We turned up and was disappointed to find out this hadn’t been communicated properly to the pub from HQ and we no longer had our table, so had to sit in the bar area instead of restaurant. Ordinarily this would have been fine, but it was a bit of a cold day and we were sat opposite the open door. We didn’t enjoy our meal as much because…
Absolutely delightful evening, loved the menu and Tim's wit and recommendations made the evening extra special. You can not beat a family night out at a country pub, with gastro food, wine and banter,
Food was absolutely fabulous. Recommend the lamb and the chocolate delice! However, Tim made the night. His whit and professionalism was second to none. Thank you for making our evening a huge success, we shall be returning for sure.
My wife booked this for our anniversary. Lovely room. Nice bar. The staff were lovely and polite in both the bar and restaurant. The menu looked amazing. I ordered the Thai green chicken starter and the prawn and chorizo linguine. I didn't like either, the linguine wasn't a dish. Enough pasta for 2, no flavour. Pick out the prawns but even they seemed flavourless. The chorizo tasted good. I don't send food back generally, and I didn't here. But I wouldn't ever eat dinner here again based on those 2 dishes. Once in bed, there was no remote control for the tv, really frustrating. No phone, to phone and ask for one. Getting fully dressed to go back to the bar at 10pm?? Not when I'm in bed! First time I've experienced the 'retained remote' policy, and no warning was given at…
