Why oh why didn’t I check Tripadvisor? Everything feels dark and dank here even reception with vile music pumping out SERIOUSLY in need of a complete overhaul and amazed these kind of places are allowed to stay open in these days of H and S First room I had a shower where the temperature knob was broken so you had sizzling, boiling or ‘where you born on the sun?’ water. Totally unacceptable and ridiculous The heavy soap dispenser fell off the wall - if that’d landed on my foot I’d have been out of action and putting it back was disgusting all rusty and ancient The room was right at the top and too poky and hot then I realised no kettle or tea / coffee So I went downstairs to warn them I wouldn’t be there next night (too late in the day to leave or I would have fled). Said I’d be asking for a refund (and I resent paying upfront thinking about it too). Said he couldn’t do refunds. Kettle provided said too many go missing I’m thinking I’m on the wrong side of town here! Yet so close to beautiful Cannock Chase Anyway he offered me another room Shower ok this time but temp knob literally came off in my hand! No fan so ceiling damp. As I’m here on a business course I didn’t have the time to find another room and the bed was ok so I figured I’d better bed in for the second night. I had hours of work to do Two out of three wall lamps not working so I went to ask reception for spare bulbs He had ONE for entire hotel It didn’t fit. This epitomises all that’s wrong here. So I had to do all my work with one wall lamp, the telly turned to face the pages with volume off and my mobile phone light as these rooms are so low dark and dingy. Almost impossible to work here INVEST show us you care!!!

Appalling dirty, rotten, mouldy and in a run down dangerous condition. Bugs crawling around, door hanging off hinges in bathroom with mould, damp and dirt on walls ceiling and floors. No kettle or cups in room to make a drink, dust everywhere and had to ask for toilet roll as none in room.

We were given rooms 30 and 31.  On opening the door to the triple room a dreadful smell came out.  once in the room is was very clear that the carpets had not been hoovered nor had the bathroom been looked at or cleaned, there was pools of water on the floor ( not sure if water or urine hence the dreadful smell?) The toliet had never been cleaned as there was coins in the toliet..both rooms had wall paper hanging off the walls. We asked for a refund the guy on reception was not interested and didn't seem bothered attitude..we did not stay here as it was filthy. We have contacted booking.com for full refund and waiting for a reply ..Yes a cheap hotel but you don't expect a bathroom that looks like it had never be cleaned in wee

The hotel is not as bad as some reviews suggest, but is certainly not a place that I would want to stay at a second time. From the outside the hotel looks run down, and it's the same on the inside. The whole place is crying out for a major refurbishment. But my experience wasn't all bad - the room I was given, along with the bedding and towels was clean, and it had a fairly large flat screen television. Despite the wallpaper being close to detaching from the walls in several places and the whole place having a rather dingy appearance, it was warm and comfortable. But at £45 for a full double sized room with en-suite facilities for the night, it wasn't too expensive and it's location was convenient for me. It's a pity that it's in such a run down condition.
