we were doing a 10 mile walk for breast cancer care and the hotel was close to the venue. on arrival the owner was very chatty and asking where we were from and he knew the area. the room was large, clean linen and well presented.(only down side was bed was too soft for my liking)the bathroom was clean and... Clearly the place to be on a Friday night in Wincanton judging but the boisterous noise from the courtyard below our room - that said, it did stop at a reasonable time and it was a warm day so no real complaint there. As for the Hotel, well it is basic but clean and functional. Rooms were small but adequate... More

Like many pubs that offer B&B , sometimes the two don't always sit comfortably together, the needs of one client group conflicting with the other. This is an old coaching inn that the current owners are trying to upgrade. As a listed building there are limitations as to what can be done. It is popular with locals and appears known... More

We stayed for a wedding nearby, and so the night noise on a saturday at 11pm didn't bother us for long (till 11:30ish) but I can imagine if you're using this for sleep, it could be. I'd assume it's not a problem except for Friday and Saturday nights. If you want sleep, ask for a room on the left hand... More

I've stayed in this place many times and find it comfortable clean and friendly. If you are after a no frills place to lay your head, then this will do. The breakfast is good, the evening meals are ok and the selection of beers is great. All in all not a bad place.

Stayed here with my partner because the other hotels and b&b's were fully booked (I now know why this place wasn't..) and it just isn't worth the money we paid for it. The service and lack of, was appalling. Rude young boy serving breakfast didn't say more than 4 words to us which were "what do you want" when taking... More

We had to book this place last minute (1 hr before arrival) due to the other place we were due to stay at not being great. This place was OK. Met all requirements of a basic b and b. Room was clean. Double bed OK but little small for us. TV a tad on the small side for the room.... More

Real shame about this place - looks great from the outside, but unless you're a backpacker, it's not great (try the Travel Lodge off the A303!). My niece stayed here this Easter (left it too late to book the Travel Lodge), and had quite a bad experience, mostly due to the attitude of staff - and the lack thereof. The... More
