A lovely hotel, like being on the set of Downton Abbey. We picked this hotel because we wanted to bring our dogs with us. The room is sweet, bed very comfortable. First night we had an excellent meal. The very helpfully staff set a table up for us and the dogs in the library. Very romantic. Breakfast was in the painting room, which is very elegant with a fabulous chandelier overlooking the gardens. 30 plus acres to explore. The vegetable garden is delightful. It’s so nice to go to a hotel with dogs and not be treated like a second class citizen. The hotel is beautiful, the food wonderful and the staff can’t do enough for you. What’s not to like. We will be back.

We arrived on Saturday with our dog in the rain. We were made welcome, shown to our room complete with 4 poster bed. Lovely walk in the grounds. Dinner was amazing , beautifully presented and the detail to taste combinations was unbelievable- one of the best meals we have had ever! Staff were very attentive and we had a lovely view over the river . Breakfast too was very good. We will be back!

Stayed here last October on a for a one night dinner stay through Secret Escapes. What a wonderful place - a posh stately home with lovely rustic gardens. We paid extra for a suite and it was well worth it - sumptuous, grand rooms with a four poster bed and a view of the surrounding countryside. There was a little confusion between staff in the bar and the restaurant about us being ready for dinner, but the small delay was worth it as the food was very good - on the traditional side, but keeping with the setting and very tasty. Breakfast was also very good. A wonderful place for a short break.

We stayed in one of the cheapest rooms, which was still really nice: just with a rather low hanging shower. Went there for a quiet quintessential English countryside experience, got exactly that, so pretty happy. Squeaky wooden stairs: check. A bar tender that seemed straight out of The Shining: check. A storm bringing down a 200 years old willow: check! Only the restaurant is a bit pretentious in its dishes: much presentation, less depth in flavor unfortunately. Compared to hotels more to the east of South England, this one has a great value for money (if you like these kind of a bit old fashioned places, like we do).

A wonderful overnight stay, even though it was a damp dreary day it was beautifully bright and welcoming inside. Walking around the grounds even in the rain was beautiful, looking at the kitchen garden and tree lined drive. Our room was lush with Molten brown products in the bathroom. A four poster bed created a luxurious ambiance and grandeur. The staff were really friendly the bar tender from US was attentive and efficient. The young girl at night who looked after us at dinner, was so polite and sweet. The girls at breakfast were lovely and Suzanne even gave me a tour of the really interesting and historic basement. Dinner and breakfast were beautiful, I particularly enjoyed my crab starter and lemon sole with octopus, desserts were spectacular too. Thank you for a memorable stay.
