Our one night stay at the Bower Inn was to meet friends. What a good choice it was. Our room was warm and cosy. Very clean, and with great little extras like extra pillows in cupboard, and plenty of space for cases. We were given a lovely quiet table for our meal, so talking with our friends in a busy... I only stayed for a night and ate in the restaurant...the food was wonderful and the service friendly and prompt. The bedroom was very clean but "over dressed" for my tastes with far too many cushions on the over-soft bed and an overall "cheesy" feel to the room. Despite this, I had a good night's sleep and a great breakfast.... More

Thanks for the comments regarding your dining with us. Sorry the rooms weren't to your taste, always a very subjective view. Looks like we might see you again. Regards Peter More

Staff were absolutely excellent, helpful, knowledgeable; you couldn't tell who owned it, all very professional. Room was beautiful, reminded us of a modern french farmhouse. The hotel was spotless, smelt fresh and clean. Sadly we didn't eat evening meal in the Bower, we saw the menu and meals arriving at tables - London quality eating. We did have breakfast -... More

We recently visited the bower inn for lunch and as it was a lovely day opted to sit outside. I wanted to order the steak ciabatta but was told it would come pink, when I asked if mine could be well done as I don't ever eat my steak pink the waitress just said it would become too chewy.. I've... More

I think every chef I have ever worked with would prefer to cook a steak medium rare. That said - if that's how you like to eat your steak then that's how we should prepare it, certainly we have done on many occasions before. I have spoken with all the staff concerned and apologise if you were led to believe... More

I've eaten here for lunch and dinner and on the whole I think I prefer eating here for lunch during the week. There is a main menu and specials on the board, so there is plenty to choose from. Last time I had scampi which was delicious, piping hot and was probably the best scampi I've ever had. I find... More

Thanks for the review. Glad you enjoyed our scampi. We work hard for a consistent quality of food and service. Any variance from our usual levels would probably be down to volume of custom. We will continue to work hard to ensure there are very few variations. Peter More

We would like to thank Candy, Peter and her team (especially Nick) for the most wonderful wedding reception a couple could wish for on their wedding day. They were so helpful leading up to the day, on the day and the next morning. The staff were fantastic! The marquee was stunning, the space inside and out was perfect and everyone... More

Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a lovely review. I certainly was a very successful day. We all think you chose the best band we've had to date and the details to the whole day were excellent. Your comments regarding the team are particularly appreciated. Thanks again. Peter More

Stayed here for a few nights while visiting relatives, found the staff to be very friendly. Room was kept clean and the food was excellent. The place was busy on both nights and it would be advisable to book in advance.

Went with a friend I feel the place needs a good clean and smells of dogs ! Overpriced food and not particularly nice, I felt there wa an atmosphere and not friendly staff. Needs a good revamp and maybe a menu change and staff to smile if that is possible.

We stayed at the Bower Inn for one night, a Saturday night, when going to a friends wedding nearby. We arrived at 11.15am after a 90 min drive and we were surprised and pleased to be told our room could be ready in 15 minutes. 11.30am we were in and could freshen up and change. Deb on reception was really... More

Thanks for the review. Great detail and very helpful for anyone planning to stay. The breakfast can always be made bigger, but it can be so depressing throwing uneaten food into the bin. On balance - the vast majority of guests have had more than enough when leaving the breakfast room. Really hope you get the chance to come back... More
