Arrived a bit late, but no problem. Friendly reception from the owner, who showed me up to my room - a lovely little single en-suite with the en-suite bit cunningly tucked away in a corner! Just the job! I settled in and went back down to the bar and lounge. Draught beer is sensibly limited to a lager and a... More

We stayed at Gwesty Minffordd for one night and really enjoyed our stay at this quirky hotel. Our room was compact but it was spotlessly clean and the bed was very comfortable.. The bathroom was small but was well supplied with toiletries, shower cap, face cloth and nice thick towels. The food here is excellent. There is a good choice... More

A great base at the foot of the mountain. Warm, clean and quiet room. Great food. You can get to the Minffordd path to ascend Cader Idris in just a 5 minutes walk from the hotel. Shame about the weather.

We have just spent 2 nights here with friends and it is the perfect place to really relax and unwind. No television but a cosy and comfortable lounge to sit and chat with a lovely fire to keep you warm. The Hotel is spotlessly clean & the rooms offer more than average with extra bedding, fans/heaters & even hot water... More

This is a real gem of a place. We stayed in November 2015, with the weather being appalling but it just added to the charm of the place, ( I'm sure it's stunning in the summer too). Gordon the owner is a real character, more than happy to come and chat with you when it's quiet and tell you some... More

Never did find out the owners name, but he works hard to make sure you have everything you need, even setting up the Wi-Fi on your phone for you. Food was great, steak was first class and dessert was excellent. But the best part is his excellent selection of bottled ale 😊

We went there last week for a meal. The host was great, a right comedian. The food was exceptional. I must apologise for our children who were hyped up, and kept on going to the lavatory, we don't know why! I am sure the other guests & the host were miffed.

This hotel is an excellent location for climbing cader idris. Good hosts, good rooms,no complaints. The food and drinks are good although they are rather expensive and the choice is limited, but this is OK for a couple of nights. Would not want to stay longer as would run out of choices for food. Added bonus for many is the... More

The Minffordd Hotel in Talyllyn valley, Mid Wales is set in probably the most breathtaking scenery in Britain and is literally situated at the base of the Cader Idris with the summit being 1 1/2 miles NW of the hotel, the start of the Minffordd path is 5 mins away.
