An independently run hotel where nothing is too much trouble. Good food, excellent service situated in a beautiful Shropshire town. Hats not to like. We will be billionaires stay just as soon as we can leave our home.

My husband and I stayed one night, our daughter had another room. Both rooms were a good size, we had an executive room, number 39, which is very large with a nice big bathroom, rooms were warm, beds comfy, water hot and breakfast plentifull and tasty. Check-in was easy and reception staff were pleasant and helpful. The hotel is old and in places in need of some renovation but had lots of character which added to the experience. We would return if in the area again.

We stayed here one night, and are glad we found the Hotel. The room (39) is larger and very comfortable. The bed was very nice. We had a drink in the bar, mixed crowd, they were having a nice time. The dining room was deserted, so we had the full attention of the waiter. He was friendly and helpful. Chef was creative with my chicken dish, much appreciated. Husband had an American burger which he enjoyed. The wine list was small but adequate. Overall, a very pleasant stay.

Before I started to book this hotel, I did check out all the reviews. After contacting the hotel and asking for a quiet part of the hotel and booked connecting rooms, and were given rooms 9 & 10,close to the reception area on the first floor. As the previous person who has left a poor review, and happened to be in room 7, the ventilation above the pool is noisy especially if you need fresh air. I always start with a 5star rating, but having checked in,we were asked again to produce the credit card which we booked with for a holding deposit, which for some incredibly reason was the full amount, is this just incase because the hotel doesn't live up to expectations. On entering the rooms we found out that our room was a Disabled type, which we didn't mind, but the hotel advertised luxury. So when the taps on the sink fail to close off in the closed position (the hot tap) after washing your hands, and the plug, unable to release, the hot water started to fill the basin, and almost flooded the area, luckily I managed to work out the position where it shuts off. PLEASE REMEMBER THIS IS A DISABLED PERSON'S ROOMS. Remember the hotel says Luxury, there was no toilet roll holder, so you have to force the roll into the disable hand rails!!!. The next thing we noticed was the pillows, 2 each to be precise, if they were any thinner I would have drizzled Maple syrup on them, we have had to stay on the odd occasion at a Premier hotel and have a better quality of bedding. The rooms are tired and the carpets are in need of an update, with a poor amount of electrical sockets in the rooms, with no air-conditioning, the word Luxury is a blatant misunderstanding and a 4star rating from the AA, is beggars belief. Breakfast was fine,on the first morning we stayed, with individual pots of tea and coffee, but on the second morning, tea & coffee was served from thermos jugs, where the tea was stewed, not a luxury way of serving in my estimation. We didn't eat in the restaurant, as we wanted to check out the local areas of Shifnal, but on our last night, decided to have a bar meal, 2 soups, 1 chicken club sandwich and a portion of halloumi fries After waiting for almost 40mins, I must admit for what you pay and what you get, to me is not value for money. At the time of check out, the emphasis was to the hotel, grab the money and get the guests out as quickly as possible. This has been a very poor experience from a hotel who advises luxury, perhaps some of the budget brands would be a better choice. To the manager, please don't reply with the customary "we're sorry you didn't enjoy your stay, any good manager would know what the hotel is offering, maintenance should be a priority if your offering luxury accommodation and customer satisfaction. We won't be recommending this Hotel

Dear reviewer, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. Its exceptionally disappointing to hear all of these negative comments. I would love the opportunity to talk with you to discuss your stay in much more detail, I can assure you there is a long term maintenance plan in place at the hotel. The current owners are investing in the hotel and steady improvements are being made, I am sorry this does not seem to be the case to you. As mentioned I would love the opportunity to discuss this further, please feel free to message contact details or call 01952 460 128. Kind regards Manager
