The best place to be on a warm Summers evening!! We sat outside, by the river, looking through the menu with a bottle of lovely red wine. Peaceful & relaxed. Perfect. We ordered our food & were shown to a great table beside a window to eat the tastiest food. It's not the biggest of menus but all our choices... More

The setting for this establishment is quite stunning and is well worth a visit if only for a drink or two. However, the spacious dinning room overlooking the Thames is well worth a visit even if the menu is somewhat restricted. That said the food is quite varied and very tasty and it is obvious that a lot of care... More

Lovely food, thou the menu is a tad small. Gorgeous setting. Lovely and warm due the steaks etc being cooked on the open grill downstairs. Food is a nice amount especially the desserts. Its a tad pricey, but i guess thats the norm for the settting in leafy oxon.

Thank you for your comments, I am sorry you found our menu small & expensive, we do offer a very reasonable set menu Monday - Thursday, £15 for 2 courses, £19.50 for three courses. We do also like to think we are very reasonably priced in comparison to some other local places that do not have the amazing view. More

Business dinner. Food ok but not wow-marvellous. Pleasant enough. Staff were attentive. Nice spot next to the Thames. Interestingly enough a chap pulled up in his boat, and was served dinner on it. Thursday evening and was nicely full without being noisy.

Great family dinner. Although menu didn't feature many vegetarian options plenty were offered on the evening (having pre warned). Beautiful setting and loved all the food except the tatin - very bitter. Big firework in birthday girls dessert was lovely touch. Thanks

Thank you for taking the time to post your detailed review on here. I have discussed your comments with the manager on duty & you had said that you were okay when you were checked on, no comment was made to the food as above. We would have loved the opportunity to rectify these issues. More

Decided on the spur of the moment to lunch at this restaurant today. Thought we could get a bar snack but only a 'proper' menu available but no problem at £15.00 for 2 courses. We asked for a table in the sun by the river but were told we had to sit under the canopy but very obligingly we were... More

The Beetle and Wedge used to be a rather large hotel alongside the River Thames, however, it now has only 3 rooms in the Ferryman's Cottage. To check in, you go to the Boathouse Restaurant as there is no specific hotel Reception. My room overlooked the restaurant and you can see the river from the window. The room (No 3)... More

I went with a friend for lunch to the restaurant in this sleepy village overlooking the Thames. We had a table overlooking the river with a great view of the boats going by.I opted for the "cracked" crab not realising that I was going to have to do at lot of the work myself. My wife and I lunched last week from the fixed price menu. Food and service was excellent Staff attentive although busy. Lovely starved linen tablecloth and napkins. The riverside view was great, hard to match on Thames Recommended
