Stayed at the bell last week for a few nights, we had such a lovely stay in this old hotel , we had a family room which was really big and freshly decorated , situated at the front of the hotel so we could look out the window watching the world go by, really nice staff that are happy to... More

We were booked in for the weekend at another pub in the village, and arrived to find it deserted and locked up. We went to the Bell to see if they had any rooms, and they did but just for the Friday night as they were fully booked for the Saturday. They offered to find us local accommodation for the... More

4 of us had a meal here, on Friday evening 5 th August, the chips served with two of the meals were awfull, greasy and dark brown, obviously been warmed up. My husband paid an extra £1 to substitute the chips with a jacket potato, which had obviously been over cooked in the microwave, and was really mushy! I had... More

The Bell is full of history and character, the staff were very friendly and helpful. Room was a nice big size and the bed was comfortable with lovely white bedding. Getting to the room from Reception was up quite a few very wide steep stairs with a Fire door at the top of the steps which was quite hard to... More

My sister and I called into the Bell today for lunch and were tempted by the 'Special' of ham hock to share. We chose a table away from main bar, number 2. This area is obviously not used often - the bar was thick with dust, crumbs on the table, and uncleared glasses and coffee cups - at the first... More

I had a meal here this week wich consisted of the traditional Banger and Mash. It turned nice and hot but swamped with peas. Far too many for an even balance. The Mashed Potato was lumpy and not creamy at all. Sausages were very good and had a great taste. Only average I am afraid

Stayed here a couple of nights to go to the airshow nearby, this was the perfect location for what we wanted, the staff were excellent and work very hard to please you, our room was lovely very spacious and at the front, any noise didn't bother us it seemed very quiet to us. Could of done with a better water... More

Interesting hotel in a central location although really quiet too. The hotel has a fascinating history and is well narrated in the info booklet in the room. Staff welcoming, friendly and helpful. Great breakfast. Quite a lot of stairs so need to be nimble! We were on the third floor and the stairs were quite steep.

We recently visited friends in Faringdon and came here for breakfast on two occasions . The full English was just delicious, cooked perfectly and there was an option for a small and a large, great for when your extra hungry after a night out. The staff were so friendly and welcoming. When we return we will definitely be back. !
