A cosy hotel with a nice atmosphere, we enjoyed a 2 night stay here in October. We had a very good meal in the restaurant on Friday evening, the food was good quality, dietary needs met and and the sevice was excellent. The hotel and rooms are clean, staff friendly and accommodating and the bar area has a relaxing feel, with music played pleasantly without intruding uon conversation. I would stay again and recommend this hotel.
Had afternoon tea with some friends at Sudbury house, the service and standard of food was excellent, delicious selection of sandwiches, cakes and scones with clotted cream, all beautifully displayed and fresh. Lovely decor and nice a clean, Would definitely recommend.
Tacked this hotel on to a pre-arranged weekend in Oxford and so glad we did. From check in to check out was delightful. We had the best steaks we have had in a long time in the restaurant. Our South African waitress was so funny- a real delight - thank you, you made us laugh. Room was so clean, comfy bed and a great night's sleep. Location is great on the edge on Faringdon, a cute old place and only about half an hour from Oxford and Swindon. Bus connections to both! Hotel was relaxing and comfortable with a nice atmosphere. The grounds were beautiful and great to walk around. Well worth a visit for family, friends or couples.
We stayed last week for four days and were very impressed with Sudbury House - clean, well equipped rooms and a good breakfast. We dined in the Magnolia Restaurant and the food was superb. The staff were friendly, efficient and very helpful - one of our party has a mobility issue and we were able to park right outside the front door (Blue Badge) and the lift was so useful! Highly recommended.
The afternoon tea was served in a lovely dining room with an adjacent sitting room which we were also able to use. The afternoon tea was beautifully presented and sandwiches scones and cakes all tasted superb. Lovely surroundings. Attentive unobtrusive service. A memorable occasion which was enjoyed by everybody.
Stayed at Sudbury House Hotel for 2 nights. Our room was as expected. Clean, comfortable and quiet. There were 25 family members in our party, ages from 1 to 80! We were celebrating a birthday. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. They all went out of there way to please us all. The breakfast was plenty full and fresh. We had a family afternoon tea. Which was in a private room and terrace. The afternoon tea was very nice. Sandwiches, cakes, scones and cream. All very fresh! The staff all work very hard and nothing was too much trouble. Very nice stay. I would definitely recommend!
We stayed with two of our many grandchildren. Disappointed generally. It's really a wedding event hotel. There were hardly any guests. I ordered scrambled eggs and bacon one morning and only received one slice of bacon. For the scrambled egg my grandchild could have done better. The shower on our top floor room had virtually no pressure. Rooms are typical 3 Star ones. Staff are all pleasant. Evening dinners are average quality. This hotel is not a 4 Star one as advertised.
This was our first stay without our kids for our anniversary and we enjoyed it. The room is clean and big enough. They gave us a nicer room apparently for our anniversary, but it would have been great service to have wished us a happy anniversary or even a card in the room etc. I was agree with other reviews there were a few cobwebs missed and there were spiders in our room, when we informed reception these were promptly removed. I would say the room was otherwise very clean. I can't believe a Karen complained about there being no pen in the room! The hotel was a good location to explore the Cotswolds with a car. Breakfast was decent, hashbrowns, beans, tomato and mushrooms. I would recommend to the hotel to have vegetarian sausages too on request as many other hotels too. There was a wedding on and we could hear music till late which was fine, some screaming as well slightly annoying when trying to sleep. Reception staff are very friendly and helpful. Wouldn't say the same about all the staff in the restaurant for breakfast. Beautiful grounds and plenty of parking. Overall not bad, I would recommend.…
1 night stay travelling from Cornwall back up North. Rooms and overall setting was decent enough, and had a good size car park. We stayed on a Saturday evening with the family dog. There was a wedding on in the evening until the early hours but couldn’t really complain as people were having a good time and they kept the noise down as best they could - good job the tunes were good and I’m a late sleeper anyway!! Special mention to the staff who were all welcoming and went above and beyond.
A great hotel for a family stay when visiting the Cotswolds (you need a car to explore). I highly recommend this hotel as our room was spotlessly clean and the staff were exceptional, especially Iven and Hannah.
