On arrival at just before 10pm, I asked if I could have a cheese sandwich as I realised it was too late to get a meal, and was quickly told the kitchens were closed. After travelling all day, I didn't need to hear this. However, the waitress came out the kitchen, all smiles, yes I could have a cheese sandwich.... More

We're sorry to hear you were disappointed about breakfast. We understood you had booked on a room only basis, if this is not the case please contact us directly. None of our mattresses are more than 2 years old and all have mattress toppers, so we're at a loss to understand why you did not find it comfortable, this is... More

Your typical English pub with a very low ceiling! But quite expensive. £9 for two glasses of white wine. However, the bar ladies are charming and we had an enjoyable stay in the pub, that afternoon. Will come again

Just had Sunday lunch here with my wife and parents and the food was probably the best Sunday roast I have had anywhere! Everything was cooked to perfection and just the right amount. Service was very good and at £11.95 was great value. Thank you! Would definitely recommend. Make sure you book!

We have just had a lovely overnight stay at this pub. Room was lovely bright and airy with tea & coffee making facilities in the room. The shower did have one of those hot/freezing cold moments which can happen we know. The food is first class and their mushroom stroganoff was superb! Lovely freshly cooked breakfast which had high quality... More

We have been to the Horse & Jockey twice now for food. Food was great - served quickly and staff all very polite. We have been for Sunday lunch & dinner on a Wednesday night and both were lovely. I'd say that it's definitely more of a foody pub than a drinkers pub. We'll definitely be back.

Clean warm twin bedded room in separate block from pub. Toiletries provided. Tea & coffee too. TV with subtitles!! Good home cooked breakfast in bar dining area. Didn't have dinner so can't comment on other meals. Might be a bit noisy in dining area as a lot of hard surfaces (I'm hard of hearing so that makes a difference for... More

Called in to day for lunch. Were immediately asked if we wanted food, and that they were very busy. The pub was more or less empty. Luckily we had booked a table. No idea how they would cope with a full pub. Ordered a sandwich, white thick cut bread, aubergine, tomato and mozzarella, hand made crisps and coleslaw. The bread... More

We're sorry you didn't enjoy your sandwich and that you didn't tell us at the time, we would have been so happy to get you something else. Your feedback is really helpful to us, we are changing the type of bread we serve and taking this sandwich off the menu. The coleslaw was made by us, we're sorry you didn't... More

We visited for a family birthday party and stayed in the accommodation behind the pub. We received a warm welcome from the licencee and enjoyed a pleasant afternoon in the function room. We stayed in the separate accommodation block behind the pub. The rooms were not big but were warm and comfortable and we enjoyed a good nights sleep. We... More
