We have been to the Horse & Jockey twice now for food. Food was great - served quickly and staff all very polite. We have been for Sunday lunch & dinner on a Wednesday night and both were lovely. I'd say that it's definitely more of a foody pub than a drinkers pub. We'll definitely be back.

Clean warm twin bedded room in separate block from pub. Toiletries provided. Tea & coffee too. TV with subtitles!! Good home cooked breakfast in bar dining area. Didn't have dinner so can't comment on other meals. Might be a bit noisy in dining area as a lot of hard surfaces (I'm hard of hearing so that makes a difference for... More

Called in to day for lunch. Were immediately asked if we wanted food, and that they were very busy. The pub was more or less empty. Luckily we had booked a table. No idea how they would cope with a full pub. Ordered a sandwich, white thick cut bread, aubergine, tomato and mozzarella, hand made crisps and coleslaw. The bread... More

We're sorry you didn't enjoy your sandwich and that you didn't tell us at the time, we would have been so happy to get you something else. Your feedback is really helpful to us, we are changing the type of bread we serve and taking this sandwich off the menu. The coleslaw was made by us, we're sorry you didn't... More

We visited for a family birthday party and stayed in the accommodation behind the pub. We received a warm welcome from the licencee and enjoyed a pleasant afternoon in the function room. We stayed in the separate accommodation block behind the pub. The rooms were not big but were warm and comfortable and we enjoyed a good nights sleep. We... More

We went for a quick sandwich while clearing mother in laws house. We were told a big crowd was coming in and they couldn't take our order for 10 minutes although the pub was empt. They took our order and sadly one of the sandwiches had blue spots of mould. They were very apologetic handled it very well refunded us... More

We are so sorry that you had a bad experience, we buy our bread in fresh from our supplier every day so it was a nasty surprise to hear you thought it was mouldy, as you kindly said you felt we managed the situation very well, we do everything we can to make our customers happy. We received a warm welcome even though we had arrived mid evening during a busy dinner service. The bar/waiting staff were lovely and nothing was too much trouble, very friendly. The menu was well priced and the food was delicious. The room was clean and comfortable. The only two small points on the room was that the shower could have... More

Stopped by on the way to Reading from the Cotswold and was delighted. Smashing pub, great food and great service. We had Welsh Rarebit and chips and loved it. The interior is spectacular. Loved it. Very nice pint of Stowford.
