Easy access from A1, light lunch, ideal meeting venue. Service good, reasonably priced, acceptable food choices. Happy to recommend to business or leisure travellers . Plenty of parking space, and cosy rooms to choose from.

Great food, as always, but the dark depressive dining room needs modernising. Even in the summer the widows are always closed leading to a hot humid atmosphere. It appears they are more interested in keeping their older customers warm than in creating an airy enviroment for their other clientelle.

Dear Reviewer Whilst we appreciate your comments regarding our ‘great food’, this is the second occasion that you have left a negative review of us on TripAdvisor. It would seem that our business is not quite to your liking and as such, we do encourage you to go elsewhere the next time that you are looking to dine out. Perhaps... More

My partner had booked a surprise night away for us (having 4 kids is quite demanding) and it was perfect again.... We've stayed here once before and agree it's a little hidden gem.... The real coal fire in the bar is perfect, that bar staff are very dedicated to their job as they are never still but always available. This... More

Several visits over many months and yet to be disappointed. Cuisine is 'different', some say 'fine dining'. Dishes well descried, French style, and always good. House wine offer with dinner for 2 mid-week is excellent value Best experience in the area

On arriving at the Inn we were a bit concerned. The building doesn't look much from the outside. That said, the staff were very helpful and showed us to our spacious room which was fine. We had booked dinner not being sure what to expect. It was Halloween night and the restaurant staff had made efforts to add a spookey... More

Finally got round to a review. We have visited many times and have always had a great experience. The staff are always very friendly and the food excellent....In short, definitely a great spot. The only downside for us is the distance which has stopped us visiting more regularly which we would love to do.

I took my elderly dad here for lunch on Monday. The staff were so friendly and really looked after us. The menu was varied and I couldn't decide what to have! I settled on the homemade meat and potato pie. This was indeed homemade and a proper pie like my mum used to make. The portions were generous. I will... More

This is the third time we've stayed here. Stay Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday for their wine and dine offer. £100 per couple for a three course meal, with wine and bed and breakfast. The food is amazing, such good quality, beautifully presented. We had the smoked chicken and citrus fruit starter with a mustard dressing, followed by pork belly and... More

Stayed here overnight to attend a wedding in Tuxford. Very welcoming allowing us to have room early enabling us to change into our wedding clothes. Room lovely on 2nd floor with large bathroom. Tea/coffee in room. Comfortable bed. Everywhere spotless. Full English Breakfast included very tasty. Lovely dining room. Sorry couldn't stay for lunch. Went out of their way to... More
