We've just returned from a five night stay and the overwhelming impression was that it is in real need of some TLC. Let's start with the good things. The majority of the staff are very friendly and helpful. The location is good and the garden is very pretty. We were there for a wedding reception and the hotel provided a... More

Our daughter chose the Tankerville for her wedding reception because of their friendly, 'can-do' attitude and because they offer good value for money. They certainly fulfilled their promise. We were able to take over the whole hotel for our guests, many of whom also stayed there overnight. The wedding breakfast was outstanding: roast beef cooked to perfection, excellent veggie alternative... More

Visited on Friday 19th August with husband, two daughters and dog. Food was beautiful, could not fault it and the staff were great even though it was very busy. If in the area again we will definitely visit this hotel for a meal. Dog treats available too (free)

It appears that all the double rooms are the same price...but a huge variation in size, .the rooms shown on the website are all large but we we given Room 18 which was very small. We had to take it in turns to move around the room and the " view" was an oil tank and a tumble down shed!

We have spent three nights at the Tankerville, a nice traditional hotel. The bar is a standard pub type bar, serving a full range of drinks. The food is traditional pub fare, a good plateful, well prepared and well presented. The rooms are clean and tidy, perhaps a little in need of refurbishment, but nothing to worry about. The staff... We spent one night here and slept very well. The more experienced staff were good and friendly, but some of the less experienced could have done with more customer service training. The general experience was disappointing. The bar area, where we ate, appeared very tired and the food, especially at breakfast, was ordinary. Scrambled egg and smoked salmon should be... More

With a large car park at the rear, we found this a friendly, comfortable and clean location for very well presented and varied food at a reasonable cost. The range of beers was excellent and well looked after.

Arrived for a 5.30pm family tea. Servers polite and amenable but large proportion of menu unavailable and the subsequent, unexplained 55 minute wait for mains didn't really delight. Experience reminded a couple in our party of pub dining 'customer service' from the 80's!

We met friends for lunch. Excellent 'pub' food menu. We all had something different from burgers to chicken and gammon steaks. Everybody was pleased with their food and it ŵas served by two excellent friendly members of staff. Our friend's granddaughter and her mother join us for coffee and immediately a member of staff came through to,the dining room with... More

Stayed for two nights whilst visiting Northumberland. It took a while waiting for someone to come and book us in. The hotel is very clean but rather dated. Staff were helpful but often difficult to find. Selection at the bar was limited. Gardens are delightful.
