Family staying so thought we would try here for a meal. Very disappointed. Felt menu choice limited basic pub grub using frozen chips etc but prices did not reflect this very expensive, also no smaller portions available which would have helped a couple in the group and saved wastage, not one of the group thought that the food was worth... Huge huge room/suite with a huge bathroom with full size bath. It has 2 double beds, a 2 seater lounge & 2 single arm chairs. Lovely service & great meals plus dessert 😊 Built in the 1700's it is a little quirky with its steps & rooms but I'd call this character.

My wife, I and Ollie our dog have just spent a very enjoyable two night break at this hotel. Their claim to be dog friendly is indeed true. The staff are friendly, hardworking and superb with both humans and canine guests. The room we were allocated was a little on the small side, but adequate for two nights. The food... More

A lovely hotel with very helpful staff. Avoid at all costs the road side rooms at the front. Even with double glazing fitted the traffic noise became unbearable. They did however relocate me on request to a room at the rear. The road is still audible but not so bad.

Excellent in every way from warm welcome from friendly staff through great food, efficient service and a lovely room which was immaculate. Large bathroom. Very dog friendly. Dogs allowed in the room and also the bar. What many hotels strive for but few achieve. Well done!

Having just spent 5 days on holiday at the Tankerville arms in Wooler we would recommend this pub to anyone. The staff are wonderful, nothing is to much trouble for them. The breakfasts are excellent, lots of choice, my husband loved the kippers. The rooms are cleaned daily, soft new white towels everyday. Evening meals are delicious there's always plenty... More

Absolutely terrible! I took my 93 year old friend for lunch here and for the second time it was awful. I ordered the lamb chops £16:95, from the grill, my 3 thin chops were grilled beyond recognition, they were burnt & dry, served with frozen chips, deep fried mushrooms, frozen peas and a tomato cut in half and warmed under... We've just returned from a five night stay and the overwhelming impression was that it is in real need of some TLC. Let's start with the good things. The majority of the staff are very friendly and helpful. The location is good and the garden is very pretty. We were there for a wedding reception and the hotel provided a... More

Our daughter chose the Tankerville for her wedding reception because of their friendly, 'can-do' attitude and because they offer good value for money. They certainly fulfilled their promise. We were able to take over the whole hotel for our guests, many of whom also stayed there overnight. The wedding breakfast was outstanding: roast beef cooked to perfection, excellent veggie alternative... More

Visited on Friday 19th August with husband, two daughters and dog. Food was beautiful, could not fault it and the staff were great even though it was very busy. If in the area again we will definitely visit this hotel for a meal. Dog treats available too (free)
