fantastic for stargazing (very dark skies) and the location is beautiful and tranquil. Lovely and quiet, but only an hour's drive to the coastline, and only 40 minutes drive to Kielder Observatory and Hadrian's Wall. We stayed in Chicken Coop (4 of us) which was cosy and clean, and very warm with a great log fire. The owners are friendly...

We stayed for a weekend in November as we were looking for a tranquil escape from the preparation for the Christmas season, and that's exactly what we got. A perfect peaceful escape in beautiful surroundings & a lovely cottage. The miniature Shetland ponies & chickens added that extra special something, we will be returning in 2017.

We recently stayed in the Chicken Coop view cottage and we weren't disappointed. A beautifully clean, well equipped and homely cottage. We were very touched by the eggs, milk and delicious Victoria sponge that were there on out arrival. A very nice touch. Our surroundings were idyllic and our dog Annie enjoyed her daily walks around the grounds as well...

Chicken Coop was great with the ' Orchard Area ' a special favourite with the Children ( Children = 3 under 8's and the rest mostly Pensioners.) Swings and the Hammock were hilarious and genuinely we could have spent hours there. Ponies were really friendly. Fantastic location and we WILL be back. Great welcome of Homemade Cake , Flowers and...

Chicken Coop Cottage was in a perfect location for everything we wanted to do in Northumberland (inlcuding Hadrian's Wall, Kielder Observatory, Newcastle and the Northumberland coast). The cottage itself was spacious and felt very cosy. The kitchen was well-equipped and the homemade cake on arrival was a lovely touch, as were the fresh eggs. There were three miniature Shetland Ponies...

I stayed here with my partner for 5 days in the first week of September and we had a fantastic time. The cottage is a perfect size for two people with a sofa each and plenty of room in the kitchen/dining area. We were supplied with a delicious homemade cake, fresh milk and flowers and a supply of wood for...

Fourth time at these splendid cottages which are an excellent base for exploring this fascinating area. This time, we visited; The Tanfield Railway, St Mary's Lighthouse, Edinburgh, Jedburgh Abbey, High House Farm Brewery, Dunstanburgh Castle and even watched the England football team win a match in the Euros 2016 back at the cottages. Overall, another most enjoyable week.

We stayed for a week at May half term. The weather was mixed but there's an undercover area for games as well as the living room so the kids could still have fun. It's a lovely part of the world and the cottage was well equipped. No complaints at all.

This accommodation was recommended by a dog trainer. Very dog friendly, with a field to explore/run in and a safe yard for the dog to mooch about. Clean, tidy, well-equipped accommodation: cosy as others have said and getting back at the end of the day it felt like I had got back home. Wild and remote location, which is great...

It's a great place to take dogs both of ours enjoyed the freedom to wander near the cottages and it was so easy to take them for a walk into the field next to the river....
