The drive into the pub is lovely through the woods but unfortunately disappointing when you get there. The beer choices are boring and predictable. The staff appear not to understand English and the louts hanging out of the windows, half-dressed, in the back garden, noisy and intimidating. Maybe we got there on a stag weekend, who knows, either way it... More

Myself and husband stayed here as we were attending a wedding close by. The staff were great and prior to us staying I had regular contact with them as I had a few queries (taxi numbers, early check in) The room was spotless, nice and comfy and over looked the grounds. We had a drink in the bar before attending... More

Really good country pub. Good food. Busy and full of dogs. Excellent beer garden out back. Loads of space. Easily seated a table of 6 with 3 dogs in tow. Well situated for proctor stead campsite too. Will definitely call in again next time we go up camping to the area.

We stayed one night along our walking holiday along the Northumberland Coastal Path. The Cottage Inn is a comfortable pub with excellent rooms and amenities serving quality meals in the evening. Breakfast was included and we had a wide choice of cold food to accompany a fully prepared hot meal. We arrived with wet/damp walking kit and found that our... More

3rd day of St Oswalds Way. Not in Craster which added an extra mile for that day. However next morning took lane to join the Way further south rather than going back into Craster. Room ok albeit rathyer small but at least quiet and looked over garden. Food quite adequate but they need a more efficient breakfast toaster!!

Went to The Cottage Inn today on a recommendation from somebody that I can only imagine didn't like me. When we arrived our desire to eat there seemed to be an inconvenience to them. I can, on reflection, see that it was. The service was slow, grumpy and lacklustre(One particular waitress seemed affronted that I dare to ask for condiments,... More

Stayed here for two nights with a group of mature motorcycle riders and used The Cottage Inn as a base. The rooms were clean and tidy and all had tea and coffee/TV in the ensuite rooms which overlooked a very pleasant and well maintained garden to the rear with plenty of seating. The bar and restaurant was very good and... More

Staying at the cottage next door we had some lovely food here. I had a fantastic Venison steak with haggis and pepper sauce for £11, and I don't doubt that it would have been double that price 1 mile away at the Jolly Fisherman in Craster where everyone flocks. The staff and locals were all friendly and the garden is... More

Didn't actually stay here but dined on two occasions. Portions here are quite huge so if you happen to be in the area try it out. Service was prompt and helpful. Quality of food was very good and large portions all round. Quite busy with locals and guests and the bar is also very good with excellent service. Only complaint... More
