It is about a year since my wife and I last had lunch in the Bistro. We only noticed two changes; 1. The entrance is now through the bar rather than its own side entrance and 2. Some of the seating has been rearranged. The relaxed, informal decor and atmosphere are unchanged, as is the friendly, efficient service. For our... More

A group of 4 friends who had booked a table a week in advance for a special occasion. We arrives just after 730 and our table was not ready. There were no seats in the bar so 3 of us stood and thankfully our heavily pregnant friend was able to get a seat. Menu were given to us at 745... More

I have stayed at the Collingwood Arms for the past three years for two nights each time. Always a warm welcome and I can usually get the room requested. Bar serves excellent food although some nights extremely crowded and noisy. Main restaurant quieter. Breakfast very good. Booked a lot by fishermen as so close to the river.

Only there for one night which was a great pity as we would happily have stayed much longer. Once we had found someone to book us in, everything was perfect. Lovely comfortable and well appointed room with everything being spotless. Very large bed with a most comfortable mattress with the result that we both had an excellent nights sleep. Breakfast... All in all the most enjoyable stay on our 2 week UK holiday. We stayed here before and after we hiked St. Cuthbert's Way and loved the beds, food and people. I highly recommend this hotel! The food is top notch as well as their efforts to go above and beyond for their guests.

Had evening meal here and everything was excellent. Great starters and main course combined with good service meant enjoyable visit. Well worth a visit - I would certainly recommend it. The sweet I had probably sounded better than it actually turned out to be, bit this is only a minor criticism and certainly did not spoil the meal.

Came here for dinner - not accommodation (though sitting rooms looked very comfortable). There is a pub and a restaurant, with outdoor spaces. The restaurant had a very nice feel about it - a pleasant space with spacious seating. The staff were very helpful and attentive - nothing was too much trouble: mixing and matching restaurant and pub counter meals.... More
