Arrived on the 17th June 2021 for a 2 night stay. We arrived in reception at 2.55 pm and was told by the receptionist (Paula) that check in wasn't available until 3.00 pm so she suggested that we go and have a coffee or something. We said that it was only 5 minutes so we sat about 10 feet away on a sofa to wait the precious few minutes whilst she finished her conversation with a colleague. We were duly checked into room 3. We found that the TV in the room wasn't working. We reported this to receptionist who asked if I knew how to re-tune the TV because it happens to that TV all the time. I didn't know how to re-tune it so she came and did it for us. Later that day we turned the TV on again and found it not working again. We reported this again and was told that maintenance would come and fix the TV. This never happened. The TV was still not working properly the next day so we reported it again ... still never fixed. We also had staff using the fire exit outside our room (propping the fire door open repeatedly with a brick) to go down stairs to smoke. The smell of smoke was in our room every time because they were standing below the bathroom window smoking. The floor boards in the room above creaked very badly which could be heard very distinctly in our room below (not enough insulation in the ceiling to muffle the noise). All in all, we would never stay here again.

Just returned from a 2night stay at The Kings Arms hotel. Check in was easy enough and the lady was nice, friendly and helpful. The room (Number 7), on the whole was clean and spacious, that said the bathroom floor was dirty with footprints and toothpaste splashes. The windows in the room need to be looked at, as when it was windy the windows rattled and we had to stuff it with card to stop it, the toilet also never stopped filling, after flushing and could hear the water running all night. For the size of the room, the TV could be bigger as it is a distance from the bed. The bed itself was ok, crisp clean sheets, I can’t say the same for the pillows, they were very lumpy and thin, they need replacing!! Once checked in, we went to sit out the front of the hotel and wanted to order a drink, the service was non existent, we waited a good 10-15 mins, the lady who was on reception came out and took our order, apologised for the delay and explained this was due to lack of staff. The following day we went into the garden at the back and the service was even worse here, lots of people sat down, 3 staff milling about but no one coming asking to take your order. A couple sat opposite had been waiting 20 minutes for their order to be taken….eventually a waitress came over to take their order, she then was about to go back until we shouted her over so she could take our order too. Breakfast service, the restaurant itself was cold, we sat at our table and then we waited for roughly 15 minutes, before we were asked if we wanted tea or coffee, no offer of juice. The order was taken, one breakfast with black pudding and one without black pudding. Both arrived with black pudding. Word of warning…don’t order the tea, it looks and tasted liked dishwater. The hotel is well situated in the centre and was clean, the service let’s it down. Car parking is free at the bottom of the road but not outside the hotel itself.

Just had a few drinks at a table on the the street on both Friday and Saturday but we were made to feel so welcome by lovely Paula, easy for me to stop there as I had my electric mobility scooter. If we're back in town we'll definitely book there for a meal, any other staff we encountered were equally pleasant and welcoming.

Went for a friends 18th food was good but our sever Molly was by far the best but she was so kind and went way beyond what was expected. She made the experience a million times better than what it would’ve been without her.
