Marshall Meadows is an authentic Georgian, 3 star country house Hotel, standing in around 15 acres of peaceful grounds with sea views. It is uniquely situated just outside the historic town of Berwick-Upon-Tweed only a stone's throw away from the A1 crossing point of the Scottish Border. It is, therefore, both the first and last hotel in England depending upon one's point of view. The hotel is believed to date from the mid 18th century and provides the perfect setting for a relaxing break, discovering the attractions of border country or for the more adventurous numerous coastal and inland walks and cycle routes, great golf courses and fishing on the river Tweed. The hotel comprise 19 letting rooms, in addition to a main bar, residents' lounge, restaurant, large function area and music room, conservatory and terrace overlooking a large well manicured front lawn. Entrance to the grounds is via a tree-lined driveway flanking a wooded stream. The rear of the hotel overlooks a farmyard, paddock and walled garden. The location allows easy access to the main town, Northumberland Coastal attractions such as Holy Island and Alnwick Castle, National Parkland and the Scottish Border Regions.

A superb hotel, hidden away in peaceful countryside. Immaculately clean and comfortable. The staff were efficient and so friendly, nothing seemed too much trouble for them. Delicious food for breakfast and dinner.

Lovely location with wonderful walks on doorstep. The staff are great, so helpful. The guy who I presume is manager & leaving for another job sadly, had a wonderful caring customer Service to the point where the lack of atmosphere wasn’t such a big deal as it would have been for me. The hotel bar & dinning room are bare, decore is dismal. The saving grace in the bar is the real fire. Breakfast is terrible, poor quality products, dry and over cooked, instant coffee and generic OJ but I had a delicious dinner cooked to perfection? Which surprised me. This place could be a haven in these difficult times with returning guests, it desperately needs some attention to detail and you wouldn’t go into town. Photo is the sea bass I had for dinner and truly did not expect this quality. It was fantastic. Gave review 4 stars based purely on service & location.

Marshall Meadows Country House Hotel in Berwick upon Tweed is well located for a short break to Northumberland.  From here, you can explore the pristine, unspoiled coastline both North and South of the hotel with ease. Visit my travel blog for a 3 day itinerary. We were visiting in September 2020 aduring the Covid-19 restrictions.  The hotel was doing its very best to keep everyone safe, but it meant that unfortunately, the pretty little dining room was out of action and instead, we had to take our meals at an allocated table in the large function room which inevitably lacked the intimacy of the usual dining room. The bedroom we were allocated was comfortable enough - but really tiny!  If you like a large bed and enjoy your space, you would probably be best to request a larger room and pay a bit of a premium for it. This is an AA 3 star hotel.  The restaurant was reasonable enough with a daily changing menu, but nothing to write about home about.

My husband and I stayed in room 11 this weekend. We had dinner on the saturday night in the lounge. The meal was delicious, fillet steak with the crispiest onion rings I've ever tasted! The bar was quaint and the fire was amazing. The man running things on Saturday night was excellent. Despite being on his own he was serving in the dining room, bar and our room and still did an amazing job. The room was lovely and clean with everything we needed. My only complaint was that the tv is very small and can't be seen by the bed. We will definately be back.

The hotel looks very grand as you come down the driveway. The public rooms are very nice with high ceilings and nice furniture. The bedrooms lacked a bit of country house feel to them. The furniture was all a bit mismatched and didn't really fit the hotel. But it was very clean, comfy and quiet. The bathroom was also very nice and spotlessly clean. Unfortunately because of Covid all the meals were served in the function room which had more space but lacked a bit of atmosphere. Overall it was a nice place but a bit on the pricey side
