Bedroom ok bit dusty, bed not that neatly made bit tired looking, the ensuite had cracked floor tiles, the shower in the bath good pressure but the bath was quite high and as I'm not particularly tall I found it quite difficult getting out. Although we'd booked a time for dinner we were seated in the bar for approx. 25... More

We used this hotel as a change from the usual overnight stopover hotel chains but actually although it was quite a bit more expensive it didn't really seem that much more memorable. The bedroom (number 3) was entirely unremarkable not particularly large with a rather small seeming double bed , tired looking decor , and a not very fresh smell.... More

Lovely hotel in it's own grounds. The gardens are lovely and the hotel is in a lovely spot. The food in the restaurant was exceptional and the service throughout the hotel was friendly and efficient. This is a lovely quiet hotel for a break. There is a lovely room for relaxing with tea or coffee and there is a bar... More

This is a nice little hotel with lots of charm. We had a corner room which was big, with an equally big bathroom. The room was very comfortable. The bar area was ok and the lounge comfortable. The food at dinner was well cooked, I had steak which was cooked to perfection.

I stayed for a couple of nights while visiting friends in the area. I arrived late afternoon and was warmly welcomed and shown to my delightful room. Really comfortable bed and good bedding, great bath and shower and ( v importantly) a efficient fast hair dryer. An early evening drink on the terrace gave me the opportunity to see the... More

What a lovely surprise arriving at our overnight stay after visiting Holy Island; it was just wonderful. A hotel with charm, comfortable rooms and a warm friendly welcome. Really enjoyed chilling out in the bar. Breakfast was delicious. Wish we we had stayed longer to make the most of the lovely hotel and grounds. Thank you - we hope to... More

We stayed here on Friday for one night but I wish it had been for longer. The house is lovely and about 2 miles from Berwick upon Tweed. The staff were amazing - friendly, helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The bedroom was airy and bright with a lovely en suite bathroom. The ground are extensive and beautifully kept.... More

Travelling alone on business this hotel is clean, safe and peaceful. I was met by a cheery hello and a smile from Wendy who made me feel very welcome explained my options for eating and the available facilities. It has a lovely atmosphere and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. I would like to revisit this hotel when... More

We have stayed here on a number of occasions and never been disappointed. Although the hotel is older in style, parts have been tastefully upgraded. Excellent service. Lovely friendly welcome. Room 4 lived up to all expectations. Delightful bathroom with bath and shower. Comfortable bed. Lovely views of the grounds. Quiet location. Food beautifully cooked and presented. Staff warm, friendly... More

We received a very warm welcome, us and our four legged friends. This is an exceptionally clean hotel and we could not fault anything about it. The staff were very attentive, our evening meal was amazingly good (homemade rice pud to die for!) and breakfast was equally as fab. It's very peaceful and we would most definitely recommend it to... Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Marshall Meadows is an authentic Georgian, 3 star country house Hotel, standing in around 15 acres of peaceful grounds with sea views. It is uniquely situated just outside the historic town of Berwick-Upon-Tweed only a stone's throw away from the A1 crossing point of the Scottish Border. It is, therefore, both the first and last hotel in England depending upon one's point of view. The hotel is believed to date from the mid 18th century and provides the perfect setting for a relaxing break, discovering the attractions of border country or for the more adventurous numerous coastal and inland walks and cycle routes, great golf courses and fishing on the river Tweed. The hotel comprise 19 letting rooms, in addition to a main bar, residents' lounge, restaurant, large function area and music room, conservatory and terrace overlooking a large well manicured front lawn. Entrance to the grounds is via a tree-lined driveway flanking a wooded stream. The rear of the hotel overlooks a farmyard, paddock and walled garden. The location allows easy access to the main town, Northumberland Coastal attractions such as Holy Island and Alnwick Castle, National Parkland and the Scottish Border Regions. ... more   less
