Stayed here on a 3 night voucher break. Excellent value. Good food which could be taken in the bar or the restaurant. It has a selection of hand-pulled beers. Our room (number 29) was on the ground floor in the main building, far enough away from the bar that any noise would not bother us if we fancied an early... More

I so wanted to like this hotel. A historic coaching inn, located in a quaint market town, just a mile from the A1 and 10 minutes from the beautiful Northumbria coast. Combine this with a bargain Wowcher rate and what's not to like? The reality is less impressive. The exterior of the building is a feast of peeling paintwork. The... More

I am usually very positive in my reviews on this site and always give credit where credit is due. However, this time I am unable to be positive. Even on booking I found the staff very unhelpful, I had a wowcher and was first told there were no rooms available, I would have to look on the hotel website. The... More

Could I ask you to contact me directly at enquiries@bluebellhotel.com with information relating to your stay please, your name and date so I could look into this? With the wowcher deals we always ask that rooms are booked via email to ensure the code is correct for redemption. All our bathrooms have been very recently regrouted and the bathrooms are... More

We stayed one night to check out the hotel for a coach trip we are running next year. We were shown many rooms and all our questions answered by the very helpful staff. The food was Delicious . This fantastic 350 year old building has such character and is very homely .We relaxed immediately We will be back !!!

Second time here the hotel is old got plenty character and yes bits need little tlc but in no way does this detract from staff who are so friendly and helpful...food that is excellent the Sunday roasts are plentiful and real vegetables cooked beautifully...everything is fresh not frozen I had the rainbow trout my husband the beef stroganoff both were... We stayed 3 nights on a deal we saw on wowcher. We rang the hotel directly and they agreed to match the deal. So we didn't use wowcher. This way, the hotel gets the full amount instead of wowcher taking a big cut. Take note readers! Try it. Everything's already been said. Staff great, decent breakfast and the building is... More

Eat here on a Sunday evening. The bar food was basic & filled a gap. Nowhere else to eat in the village. But the staff were very helpful & friendly. Great that the hotel was dog-friendly! Could be a lovely place if the decor was updated.

Stayed here during a golfing trip on DB&B basis - was reasonable value as meal would have cost over 50% of what we paid. Food was OK and good selection of beers at good prices. Breakfast was ok too. Rooms are just about ok for a lads weekend away but wouldn't take Mrs B here. Not the cleanest and pretty... More

Ok where do I start, this place looks great from the outside, but once inside, it's another matter. We never stayed here, but I must say that the staff are great, and I have no issues at all. Sunday roast came recommended, so we ordered soup, leek and potato to start, followed by roast beef and roast pork. Water and... More

Thank you for your review, this sounds like a really terrible experience. I personally have my Sunday Lunch here every week and would like to invite you back, on the house, to sample our Sunday Lunch again as this is very inconsistent with our usual standards. The moment you walk in the bar, your feet stick.... An experience I won't be repeating. I stayed in one of the cottages Bamburgh House, Adderstone which is owned by these people. The photos I show are from this house. It was totally filthy (As the Bluebell also is). Lots of problems with stuff not working, Iron, dryer, washing line,... More
