3 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

Stayed 4 nighs in one of the superior rooms, which had been recently refurbished. Room was spacious with great view overlooking the castle and green. The reception area and stairs are in need of sprucing up. No parking outside the hotel on arrival and for most of the time we were there as they are not designated for hotel use... More

We wondered if the Lord Crewe is trading more on its location than its service. It's close to the castle and beach, and it's a nice looking old building, but the service is patchy. Reception staff took a while to process us even though we were running late after an awful traffic jam, then in the morning service was slow... More

Staff are lovely. Food is great. Beds are very small and not long enough if you are an average 5'7". Disappointed with the noise level and small double bed. Avoid room 6 as directly above the bar, loud voices until after midnight coupled with smaller than standard size double bed does not allow restful sleep

I am often in Bamburgh and if I had a choice I would often walk past this pub and go to the others in the village. It's nicely done out albeit slightly minimalist and the staff are friendly enough, it just lacks atmosphere. It's like being in a library. I am not expecting loud uninviting music just some gentle background... More

Although we had a very good meal, we were unlucky that a large party was also in the restaurant who were extremely noisy. Unfortunately this became a distraction to those customers sitting in the same area. The quality of the food was high standard but two of my friends had to make a different choice as they'd run out of... More

3/5/16. Ordered a lite bite meal in restaurant - Oven baked Mackerel with sour cream and yogurt beetroot with fennel and lettuce. It was horrible - Mackerel was overcooked and the flesh was a bright pink from the beetroot, no sign of sour cream or yogurt, served on top of old stringing lettuce and a large thin brown cracker. Service... More

We stumbled across this wonderful hotel by accident. The setting is magnificent just opposite Bamburgh Castle. We had a deluxe recently refurbished room which was fantastic and looked out towards the castle. The hotel was also a tearoom, pub and restaurant so all types of food was available. We had an excellent restaurant meal and cant recommend this hotel enough.

Stayed in this wonderful hotel and restaurant this week. Quite an unbelievable top class hotel that is hidden away. The rooms, the staff, food, bar, staff, grounds really are five star. I was truly amazed when my friend suggested this hotel. If you are travelling in this area, try this super duper hostelry. The staff here stepped out of world class... More

We spotted this place while we were looking for somewhere to eat. From outside it looked like a normal pub that serves food. Front of it is, but it has a restaurant at the back and hotel upstairs. Restaurant was very nice, quite and staff was very friendly (not over the top at all). Food was very delicious and beautifully... More

Not far to go to catch the DFDS ferry back to IJmuiden. Time for a last stop to enjoy some english hospitality before going home to Dordrecht. Had a lovely fresh sandwich with fresh crab meat. Lovely- we enjoyed the sights of the castle and have promised to visit this wee township on our next visit.
