We spent 4 nights in this little hideaway. Owners very hospitable - we were given tea and biscuits on arrival, and although we were early in the afternoon, our room was quickly serviced for us. The breakfasts were hearty and very sociable. Alnwick Lodge is not your 5 star hotel, but is comfortable, clean and a super HQ from which... More

This looked good online but was disappointing in reality. At £255 for 3 nights I would expect at least a maid service in the rooms and a change of towels - nope. The staff at breakfast had no English beyond the absolute basics. Quality of breakfast was sadly lacking. The owner was hammering in his workshop from very early in... More

If you're looking for a hotel, this is not it. Do not expect beds to be made up or towels (pieces of material which may have been towels once in their lives) to be changed. We're of average height but unless you're a family average of 7'6" you will need a step ladder to climb on the beds. Bring plenty... More

What a memorable place. Ignore Satnav to find the place, you end up in a light industrial trading estate some way away; instead just concentrate upon taking the turning immediately before Alnwick heading north on the A1. Don't be put off by the car park looking like a junkyard: instead head inside between 4 and 6.00 and you will be... More

Part B+B part Antique shop this place is like no other that I have stayed in. A welcoming cup of tea on arrival in your room or sitting by a log fire in the lounge. Breakfast by candlelight, Quirky has it. Food good, décor unusual, a stay recommended. This is a historical fortified farm house that the owner is only... More

The first thing that you notice as you drive up is the chair on the roof, which is used as a signpost as it is on the busy A1 and is therefore not allowed any signage on the road. The proprietor was very pleasant. The building is old farm buildings that have been converted. Each of the rooms are different.... More

My room was tiny, tiny. It was a roof top room with only a skylight for light. The shower is under a slopped roof so it was very tight. The room also smelled of wood smoke and perfume. I think others might think it pleasant but I kept the skylight open as much as I could. The bed was comfortable... More

We had read the previous reviews and knew that this would be different. After checking into our room in we were given coffee and biscuits in the lounge. The place is also an antique centre and this reflects by the fitting out of the rooms which are quirky. The full breakfast was good and is is served in the old... More

We stayed for just one night in June. Our welcome was pleasant and the offer of a hot drink most acceptable. The room was the 'Calf Pen' in the old barn building. It was quaint, unique and interesting but not for suffers of claustrophobia as it had no external windows. The room was comfortable and the fixtures and fittings adequate.... More

We stayed here for three nights and it is such a lovely unusual place. The owners and staff are so committed to providing a really good experience and the breakfasts are excellent. Our room was very spacious and we were very comfortable. Found the Lodge by looking for the chair on the roof.....that gives you an idea of the quirkiness.... More
