Me and my partner were looking at booking a few days in Northumberland, an area neither of us had ever visited before and weren't familiar with when a friend who regularly visits the area recommended we stayed at 'The Hogs Head Inn' where he had stayed himself. We booked to stay here between Monday 27th June to Friday 1st July,... More

Apprehensive when we travelled towards the Hog's Head, as it appeared to be part of a Trading Estate. Easily accessible near the very busy A1. However a friendly welcome at Reception gave a very good impression of Staff courtesy and efficiency. Travelled with my sister; our preferring to book two rooms for single occupancy. Both rooms allocated surprisingly spacious and... More

Agree with most of the previous reviews. Six of us stayed there midweek. Staff were friendly and helpful, food was excellent including breakfast which contradicts an earlier review. We had breakfast both mornings and thought it was excellent with plenty of choice. Fried eggs on the buffet but the staff cooked any other variety fresh on request. Ideal location to... More

Over priced "£94 per night" travel lodge checked in, given Room1 which to my dismay had no air con and was right next to the main doors and the lift, So I went to reception asked if they had any rooms with air con? Reply" NO OPEN YOUR WINDOWS" what the whole 2" ok have you got a fan I... More

Stayed at the Hogshead for two nights B & B, overnight Fri 22/7 and Sat 23 but also purchased dinner on both nights. Our large room was a good size but the second bed was small - suitable for children only. For a reasonably new hotel the corridors are dark and gloomy. We were on the first floor - no... More

Had a Sunday carvery a couple of weeks ago. The hogs head itself is beautiful- nice, decent priced and modern rooms; and the restaurant area is the same. However the food let us down. The vegetables were rock hard and barely cooked, and my beef was tough as old boots. Service was good- I did inform a waitress of this... More

Very nice atmosphere, but food was lacking finesse. Saying that, the prices are reasonable and the premises are very clean, so I would visit again. I had the potato skins as a starter, they were cooked enough, but unfortunately they lacked crispness, they were a bit soggy. For my main meal, I chose to have the Caesar salad, it was... More

The location of this hotel is ideal, just outside Alnwick straight onto the main roads to the principal golf courses. Situated in a quiet area with full on quality. Great food, great rooms and great staff. I will be back next year for the same competitions

Four of us used the family room for three nights including breakfast. The room was very spacious adequately accommodating four of us. There was also a pull out sofa bed so potentially six could use the room. As a family of five ( daughter was not with us) searching for a room that sleeps five is difficult. This room would... More

Overall good value for money. Good sized rooms, reasonably modernly decorated (bathroom looked a bit dated, but wasn't). Very good, efficient and friendly service - the staff are obviously well trained and actually want to be there, which is pretty uncommon for a hotel in this price range. Decent buffet breakfast.
