We chose this hotel as it was a stone's throw from the Alnwick Garden where our son was having his wedding reception.(not far to stagger, you understand!). Room was a bit dated and the en-suite could certainly have done with a refurbish with signs of mould on the sealant an obvious giveaway. Main problem was the lack of hot water... More

Stayed here for a friend's wedding over a weekend. Lovely area with plenty to see and do. Hotel staff were friendly and the room was very nice. Clean and comfortable room. The hotels car park is quite small but there is a large free car park out the back.

Room fine, clean, well appointed, refreshments provided. Breakfast good choice, may have been easier if staff did breakfast buffet rather than take individual orders as it could take quite a time to be served. Evening meals good, nice choice, good portions. Hotel in a very picturesque setting, lovely to walk round Alnwick in the evenings after dinner. Found a few... More

Our room was through the garden at the rear of the Hotel and was perfectly adequate for our needs. However, the weather was good so the walk through the garden for breakfast was not a problem, had it been inclement I would have preferred to be indoors. We were staying b & b only although we did eat two of... More

En route to Scotland we decided to stay in Alnwick to visit the castle and gardens. The proximity to both led us to book at the white swan. We checked in and then went to see the castle. We returned to get ready for dinner in the Olympic suite and after a bath I pulled the curtain to let in... More

On the main street of this old market town, the White Swan provides a good base for those having business in this fairly remote place or looking for somewhere from which to explore the delightful Northumbrian coastal scenery.

When we arrive we were informed that the bar and both restaurants were closed for private dining. On the Friday evening we would have gone somewhere else if we had known. On the Saturday we called into Harry's bistro. I have tasted better cold tea than the fosters lager they dispensed.

Stayed here for 2 nights for a friend's wedding at the nearby castle, and if we visit Alnwick again I'd try every other hotel and b&b before revisiting the White Swan. On arrival we were put in a (cramped, dated) twin room when I'd booked a double, and the staff had no record of our room choice despite an email... More

We stayed at this hotel for three nights, it's centrally located in the town. Our room on the second floor above the dining room was fine, albeit a tad warm. The hotel had put a small fan in the room, we also kept the window open 24hours a day. The bed was comfortable, the room was clean. We were asked... More

Convenient location. Good size family room. Bathroom ok but needs refreshing! Breakfast was poor, hard bacon and dry sausages! All in all ok for one night but definitely not the best. Car park for hotel is a bonus and it's close to the castle.

Set in the heart of the historic market town of Alnwick and only a stone's throw from Alnwick Castle and Gardens, The White Swan is a charming 300 year old coaching inn that blends its unique heritage with superb accommodation. For generations one of the North of England's primary hotels, The White Swan is probably best known for its Olympic Dining Suite which features the magnificent panelling, mirrors and stained glass windows from the Titanic's sister ship. All 57 bedrooms are designed to an impeccable standard, and Hardy's Bistro, our contemporary, informal dining experience, is open all day for coffee, light lunches and an excellent bistro menu. The perfect stopover en route to Scotland, we're also your base for discovering the famous gardens at Alnwick Castle, and a tour of the very best of the North East with its unspoilt coastline, historic castles and Holy Island, Northumberland National Park and the exciting cities of Durham and Newcastle.
