On a visit to the fabled Alnwick Gardens and we were pleased to find a hotel that lies close to the attraction and which has some parking for guests. We had a small discount however our room was small and located along a labyrinthine set of corridors. Our room had only one chair and the bathroom sink was in need... More

Having read about the Olympic dining room we thought this would be the place to go in Alnwick. As it was, the cream teas are served in the bar cum bistro. Five tables had tablecloths on for the creamtea'ers while the rest had no tablecloths for those who weren't. The experience was half hearted as the china would not have... More

We stayed five nights and overall were very happy. The staff throughout the hotel were so very helpful, efficient and friendly. Our Executive Twin was a decent size and the beds were extremely comfortable (firm). It all feels a bit old-fashioned but very clean and rooms always made up promptly. Breakfast in the very grand dinning room was pretty good,... More

Arrived at the Hotel on Sunday 5th. First impressions very good, lovely reception area, marble floor, lovely staircase but, that's where it finishes I'm afraid. Our room looked comfortable, but a little tired and in need of a face lift. Everything at a second glance was poor. We were able to hang our clothes. No drawer space so lived out of... More

Booked a cream tea for a birthday treat. Got served a lovely tea, fresh tasty sandwiches, scones, jam and clotted cream, cakes, brownies and meringue. Served in the lounge on comfy sofa and lounge chairs. Not your usual fine bone china and prim chairs, but still good food, comfy seats and relaxing time.

The White Swan is centrally located in Alnwick. It has a free carpark for residents and is within walking distance of Alnwick Castle and Gardens (and the hotel will give you discount vouchers for both attractions) So from a location point of view, the hotel has a lot going for it. We arrived late on a midweek afternoon without a... More

We are an American hiking couple using the local public transport to access Alnwick from London - or first visit to this region of UK. We had no sky-high expectations for the White Swan. We knew it was old and mid-level. But also knew also this was a great little market town with good restaurants, pubs and coffee shops. Plus... More

We booked via email well in advance for afternoon tea as my other half really wanted to see the Olympic room. We were assured that was ok and we would be able to view it. On arrival we were informed our booking hadn't been made as we hadn't phoned to book - something which wasn't made clear in the emails.... More

Rooms are basic and clean, small but our bed and mattress was very comfortable and the breakfasts were huge. Even so the rooms were small the price was very reasonable. Recommend and would stay again if in the area. The is no shortage of local attractions and free parking nearby.

Having booked a small post wedding lunch at a different restaurant we decided to change venues to the White Swan less than a week ahead. We were offered the Castle Suite at no charge and talking to the team while still in Somerset we booked up. On the day the staff of the White Swan were fabulous. Table looked fantastic... More

Set in the heart of the historic market town of Alnwick and only a stone's throw from Alnwick Castle and Gardens, The White Swan is a charming 300 year old coaching inn that blends its unique heritage with superb accommodation. For generations one of the North of England's primary hotels, The White Swan is probably best known for its Olympic Dining Suite which features the magnificent panelling, mirrors and stained glass windows from the Titanic's sister ship.
