Stumbled across the shepherds rest with two hungry children and a long journey ahead of us. Very happy with the food and friendly service. Good value meal, meat good and good selection of nice vegetables not over cooked. Definitely recommend!

The pub seemed very pleasant, but it's a shame that the campsite is not currently looked after to the same standard. When we visited it was untidy, for example there was a trailer full of rubbish left beside the facilities and more rubbish (including a door from the shower cubicle!) behind the shower shed. The grass had not been cut...

We visited whilst holidaying in the area. The girl who waited on us was on her first day of the job and was nervous but did really well. The food was nice but the menu just wasn't varied enough. I had the pie which was like no pie I've ever had before - basically a stew with 2 tiny pieces...

Stayed here 2 years ago under previous owner, unfortunately little if any improvements have been made to campsite. Toilet and shower barely adequate and shower in particular was filthy and had to be cleaned before it could be used. Little obvious supervision of siting of units and at times overcrowded and haphazard with no regard for the Caravan and Camping...

Dropped in for drink while in Alnwick on Sunday afternoon. Felt uncomfortable from the start as we pulled into the car park and had the landlord staring at us in a disapproving manner while watering his hanging baskets. Had a beer (the choice is very limited and boring) and my partner a cup of tea, she was served Earl Grey,...
