We spent a night here after battling through mizzle and mist on our C2C crossing. The welcome was warm and the ambience downstairs quirky. The hotel is obviously used to dealing with hungry cyclists: the food is nothing fancy but plentiful and tasty. The full breakfast next morning more than fuelled us for the climbs ahead. Our room was comfortably... More

We stopped by the Allenheads Inn last night to hear some fantastic live music. We were given a warm welcome, the atmosphere was great and the drinks were incredibly reasonably priced. The staff were all wonderful and they even gave a free curry dinner to all the audience which was delicious. Don't normally write reviews but we had such a... More

After a hard days cycle across the Pennines, we were very happy to arrive here. This was a charming and quirky little inn set in what felt like the wilderness of the north Pennines. Very friendly and helpful welcome by the barman (whose name we have forgotten). we were immediately shown where we could secure our bikes overnight. The barman... More

Such a lovely review. Nice to hear your understanding of just where we are.........in the wilderness! It is a different world up here and we love it as do most of our customers. One or two do go in to mild panic that the Wi-Fi is not in every nook of this very old building. Its a real chill out... More

We were doing the C2C cycle route and booked two rooms for one night. Total cost was £156. Neither room had a TV or wardrobe. Rooms had dust on the table and were very small. The Wifi signal was not available in the room. The bathroom had a carpeted floor. The door didn't shut. The light fixture cover was broken... More

Well after a run of fantastic reviews this is a sad one to receive. We have both short stay rooms ie one night and rooms that are larger with T.V etc for guest staying longer. If the long stay rooms are available we use them first regardless if it is one night stay or more but Im guessing that whenever... More

Ann, felt I should write this as another member of one of the troublesome late arriving parties of three. I came in first and could see the bar was heaving and there were some tricky customers present. I thought the young lass was lovely and went out of her way to help us sort our bikes out quickly, take our... More

Ann was so helpful on the phone, and at the end of our tough second day of C2C cycling, I was looking forward to only having to move meters from bike lock up to shower to dinner. And a young and friendly member of staff helped us lock our bikes up - then showed us to a room for 4... More

Hi Deborah Sorry we were so busy Sat night and by the time you arrived the place was in full swing with over 70 to feed and water. All staff had been told that we had 3 guests who had only just booked the day before and had been "squeezed in", had phoned and that they were running late and... More

We stayed at Allenheads Inn during our C2C walking challenge, the inn was very inviting and has a really cosy atmosphere to the place. Had one of those random drives out and ended up here. We only popped in for a coffee and maybe something small to eat as we had dinner on the go at home in the slow cooker. We chose a bowl of homemade chips with curry sauce, and a bowl of carrot & coriander soup, which I have to say... More
