Myself and 6 friends stayed here for 2 nights (last week) and I m happy to sing the praises of this place and the staff. Bikes locked away securely; pleasant atmosphere with the locals and the meals were mint!!! 1st night - chicken curry/rice/chips was lovely and portions were massive, I got a starter but wish I hadn't as I... Old friends on our 2nd nights accommodation. A great welcome, beers ordered and our bikes locked away safely.. Shown to our small twin rooms (6 chaps in 3 twins), the bathrooms are in need of a refit, especially the showers. However the evening meal was great and the breakfast even better.. The bar became lively and we had a really... More

It's a piece of history you are staying in, so it's not luxury yet all the amenities we needed worked and we were extremely grateful for the shower after our hilly day of cycling the coast to coast. This 1770 Inn has bags of character, with some of them sat at the bar! Wifi was available in the bar and... More

We went here recently one Saturday evening and were treated like Royalty! The landlady was very friendly, chatty and really made its feel welcome. The pub itself is typically old fashioned but full of character and the food is fantastic, in a different league to the Rookhope Inn in the next village, for example. The pub also has guest rooms,... Well what can you say .A typical 1770's inn / pub I stayed at this inn on our Coast to Coast Charity Event last week . Evening Meal was excellent for the 11 of us and despite arriving late 8.30 the staff had remained behind to feed us. Breakfast was good which set us up for the day As for... More

We stopped off here after visiting Housesteads, walking the wall from Steel Riggs and then visiting Lomg Meg and her daughters, it was 20.30 and we had a child and dog with us but it was no problem us being fed and watered (children and dogs are allowed in certain rooms). I had curry and my partner had a Beef... More

Our room was very comfortable, perfect for our needs. Friendly staff who were always keen to help and advise. Superb English breakfast that will keep you going for the rest of... More

This inn is clean and comfy with tasty, good value food. Decoratively it's a bit of a mish mash but pleasant non the less. The rooms are all twins and I think there's a room with four single beds (a lovely room like something out of Goldilocks and the three bears) It's set up mostly for the C2C and does... More

I've stopped at the Allenheads inn for many of years during my time doing the c2c bike ride with friends. This year was my 10th c2c bike ride and Ann kindly bought me and the guys a round of drinks. I thought a nice touch from her. (Thanks Ann) The Allenheads sell nice beers/ales and the food is very nice.... More
