Had lunch here with friends. My wife had the "Five fishcakes with poached egg on top, hollandaise sauce & chips". It's really one large fishcake (five layers??), my wife enjoyed the meal but thought there was far too much potato in the fishcake and not enough fish!

Visited for a Wednesday evening meal and sat in the mid dinning room. The atmosphere was a little lacking. They made a mistake with the mains (bringing out the wrong dish) leaving one of our group to wait 5/10 mins whilst rest of group had to start. Whilst apologetic, it slightly marred being able to eat together and perhaps should... More

We visited at lunchtime for a celebration meal and were delighted to find this restaurant is back up to standard. A huge bowl of mussels in a cream garlic and white wine sauce later served with warmed fresh bread and we were struggling to stand up!! Very welcoming, excellent wine and beer and absolutely delicious food. Go try it for... More

Some friends advised that we should visit as this is 'the best restaurant in Swaledale', and having eaten our way down much of the Dale this is pretty accurate. Yes, the food is expensive but in terms of presentation and flavours it is well worth it - as a treat. The menu is quite extensive and caters for meat or... More

Visited here five years ago and it is still as good. Great views across Swaledale. We were staying in Wensleydale and were pleased we could come here again for lunch. Lovely food and great friendly service. Beef casserole with dumplings historic! Would always recommend this pub and look forward to an overnight stay sometime.

I organised this annual get together and we virtually took over the Punchbowl the w/e of 3-5th June. Initially I was delighted with the cooperation and flexibility the staff - in particular Catz. There is (as usual) a preponderance of eastern european staff and they were delightful. The one female Brit behind the bar on Friday the 3rd clearly is... More

This lovely old coaching inn sits in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales. The accommodation was beautiful, the welcome was warm, the food was outstanding and the views were stunning. It was an excellent base for exploring the surrounding hills, dales and local towns such as Reeth and Richmond. A truly wonderful place.

Friendly staff, good breakfast and nice evening meal, bedrooms good size and fabulous shower!! Good location for visiting the dales and walking holidays, best part was the no Vodafone signal (peace and quiet was great)But they do have wifi in bar area, booking for a meal is best as it was busy all weekend

We had been travelling around Yorkshire at a variety of establishments and decided to try a cosy Yorkshire Inn, and therefore booked the Punch Bowl Inn. On arrival we were impressed with the view but felt the building from the outside lacked a little care and attention. This was mirrored in places inside also with spare chairs and tables lying... I was surprised and impressed by how easily and efficiently they dealt with our large group of 24. The hot meals were served quickly and were really very tasty. I had the gammon steak with poached egg which was the best I've ever had. Thank you, we all enjoyed it very much.
