We live locally and decided to give this another go since the name change. Unwelcoming. Very slow service. Had to wait 45 minutes for dinner. Opted for sunday roast. Very poor quality meat. Watery gravy. Asked for normal size portion. Only when we got home we realised we'd been charged £9.95 for the large portion. Definitely not worth even the... More

Easy to find on A66. Not to welcoming on arrival, had to walk around to find where to check in, bit embarrassing, obviously interrupted the wrong person. They did help me but was obviously busy- had to walk into bar area with suitcase whilst a couple were eating and a guy next to me at the bar to discuss my... More

Now called ROKEBY INN. We have been here a number of times as a couple but have just visited for a lovely family meal for 6 adults, 3 children & a dog. Love the fact that this place is dog friendly, also the play area outside is great for kids (& big 'kids' i.e mad Uncle Erics!) There was a... More

We have seen this place many times on our way to Scotland but never had an excuse to stop before, but this time we needed a stop over and this looked the right distance for us, we were not disappointed as the bed was comfy, good food freshly cooked and good beer, need I say more

The menu may be simple but everything is piping hot and neither over nor under cooked. The first time we stopped we were freezing with no expectations at all and what a surprise we were in for. Now we make a point of travelling to Scotland by the A1 and slightly longer route just so we can call in again.... More

I was looking for a restaurant about half way between Scarborough and Grasmere, this was the nearest and the recent review were favourable, so I thought I'd try it. NOW CALLED ROKEBY INN When I saw the menu I was disappointed at the small choice, we both thought we'd have to go for the roast but when I ordered I... More

Called in for lunch, clean and quaint inside. Small menu, not particularly interesting, but the food was good and piping hot. Great homemade chips. Hardly any customers compared with the other local eateries in the area, eg The Foxhall Inn, Mainsgill and The Organiic Cafe along the A66. Could be a lovely "go to" place with a little attention to... More

My sister & I stopped here on Tuesday evening about 6:30pm for a meal on our way back from Ipswich to Ayr. We both had beer battered scampi. There were about 8 huge pieces of scampi and the batter was very light and very crispy. It was accompanied with home made chips and a lovely salad. For drinks we had... More
