Travelled to Knaresborough by train. Fantastic location, literally 15 yds from the station,250 yds from the river downhill, 250 yds to Town Square uphill...perfect. Hotel superb. Some of the friendliest & helpful staff we have come accross. Food in hotel very good and spotlessly clean. In room No. 1, which was really roomy with a view onto the train station.... More

We had had a room booked here for ages, upon recommendations from TA reviewers, and we couldn’t wait to get there. When we arrived at around noon on Saturday lunchtime the place was packed with cars parked knee deep everywhere and we assumed we were really going to struggle to get a space, but no, a quick chat to the... Stayed overnight at ths pub/hotel tucked away down a cul-de-sac by the station. Very attractive, clean, comfortable, well-furnished rooms at a reasonable price and an excellent full English breakfast. Ate in the restaurant - nice atmosphere, excellent service and very good food. The bar has a bustling, lively atmosphere. The one downside is that the parking arrangements are barely adequate.

The bar staff at the Mitre welcomed us as soon as we walked in. The barman introduced the 2 or 3 different types of gin they had and the choice of tonic. He was very attentive to all the customers. We were only going for a drink but stayed for dinner because the menu looked so good. We had the... More

The Mitre is a very welcoming establishment, conveniently located right by the railway station and within easy walking distance of the town centre and the river. On checking in I was welcomed and shown to my room. All rooms are on the first floor, above the pub. The room was spotlessly clean and extremely comfortable. A good sized double bed,... More

Inside the decor is modern and tasteful and outside there is an abundance of places to sit either in the shade or in the sun in the late afternoon is very good too. Sited right next to the train station was perfect for us rail travellers and its location is convenient both for the town centre and the tourist attractions.... More

Booked at the last minute just for a night away, wished we'd booked longer. Lovely pub and the accommodation is great. Room was modern and clean and a great modern bathroom. Hadn't intended to eat at the hotel but it looked so nice. We weren't disappointed. Food was first class. Real "cheffy" food but plenty of it. Hotel is next... More

Opposite the station this is extremely well located (although it is tempting to miss the train once you've settled in). I have been to the Mitre several times and it never fails to impress. First the beer choice is fantastic and all well kept. The food is also very good 'pub food'. Service always quick and extremely friendly. The bar... More

We came across the Mitre by accident as we walked back up to the town centre from the Waterside. Sat outside in the sun with a pint of bitter, selected from a very extensive list of real ales. The sandwiches we had were delicious in warm ciabatta. My wife had the the butternut squash and lime soup and a portion... More

We chose to stay in knaresborough as we were planning a weekend at york races. York is only 4 train stops away and the hotel is by the station. It couldn't have been easier. The mitre itself is friendly, exceptionally clean and the breakfast offers everything you can think of. We also eat dinner there on the first night and... More
