We came to stay for one night and had high expectations of the place as it seems so well reviewed. We were allocated room 6, which is on the ground floor right next to the Wheel House and overlooking the car park. The room was so dark and hot, it only had one window which was open but we had... I was only going to give three stars however the service and friendliness from both housekeeping, breakfast staff and reception is so good I feel I've got to give a 4th star. We were booked on The Star Inn's gourmet package. This gives two nights accommodation; their tasting menu for the first dinner and a choice from the a la... More

This is another time i'd love to have half marks to give on tripadvisor. Unfortunately the Cross House Lodge would be getting 3.5 from me. This is a lovely hotel, in a fantastic setting, with some pleasant and helpful staff. The welcome is genuine, and first impressions are good. Unfortunately, there are far too many niggles which shouldn't happen in... More

An obvious choice for the Star Inn as it's just across the road, but this lovely little hotel has a character all of its own. A really warm welcome set the scene for our stay, with cakes available and a honesty bar should the short step to the Star Inn prove to be too far for a pre dinner drink!... More

We stayed in Room 2 and it was lovely. It was so comfortable, it was decorated perfectly and the bed was very comfortable. The whole place really complemented The Star Inn very well. The breakfast was fantastic, the big round table was a really good feature and we all chatted about the meals we had the night before and the... More

This is our 6th stay with the star, and our 2nd stay in room 5. We feel so at home in this room, very spacious, with a huge comfy bed, beautiful view over fields, often of barn owls hunting. Lovey welcome tray, with crisps ,chocolate and proper coffee. The bathroom is relaxing with mini bottles of molten brown, the staff are always lovely.even... More

We had a room in seperate building across the courtyard. The room itself was spacious and well laid out. There was a communal area that offered space to sit and have a drink via the honesty bar. Breakfast was severed with everyone sat around one large table. There was a good available however the quality was disappointing. The sausage were... More

I was brought here by Kathryn for my birthday. We had room 2. Individually designed room on the smaller side but perfect for us. The village road is outside the first floor window but its hardly a motorway and didn't bother us in the slightest. Lovely bedding and comfy large bed. Wi-Fi worked fine in the room. Bathroom well appointed... More

The Cross House Lodge has many great points about it, a warm welcome from reception, an inviting lounge to sit and read, or say hello to the other guests, or have a drink from the honesty bar, this is a small hotel, with only 9 rooms, the beauty of it is, you can choose your room and pay accordingly. The... More

Back again, this time room 5, the bridal sweet, complete with snooker table. A huge attic room, cool and comfy. Again on the foodie break, the food,we can't stop talking about, the afternoon tea was to die for,as was breakfast, so good we've booked for November, the star is simply on another level.
