The Pheasant in Harem is our favourite special restuarant in the area. We went for our wedding anniversary with two friends from London. It was their first visit and they were very well impressed by the quality of the food, the service, the surroundings. Unfortunately the weather was unsuitable for us to sit out on the terrace for coffee on... More

Five 'ladies that lunch', one celebrating a birthday. The staff were superb and helped to make it an extra special day; they just went that extra mile, without being asked, to make it a memorable and happy day for us all. Excellent food to boot - we couldn't have asked for more. Our thanks to the photographer (waiter) for all... More

We went for a few quiet drinks here and we were blown away by how beautiful it is. We were fortunate to have been on a gorgeous summer evening and were able to sit on the terrace at the back overlooking the village pond. The terrace has a pergola strung with fairy lights and candles on the tables. The atmosphere... More

Had a super meal at the Pheasant for our anniversary. We started with a pre meal drink on their very lovely terrace overlooking the village pond and then had the tasting menu for two- which was excellent. We can really recommend this. Not cheap but certainly worth it- can't wait to go again

I guess it really has all been said before, and I totally agree with all of the very positive reviews. The Pheasant Inn is an absolutely perfect place to stay, with an understated elegance which at the same time makes one feel very special without being pretentious in any way. I don't believe that I have ever felt so relaxed... More

Stayed here for two nights in one of the cottage-style family rooms with my wife and daughter on a visit from Wales and had a wonderful time. Restaurant out of this world, dinner and breakfast a treat

Large room with good facilities and excellent staff on hand to make our stay very enjoyable. Food also of very high quality, the bar snacks seem expensive but do represent good value once you see the standard of the food.

Visited with girlfriends yesterday, had coffee, sandwiches and glass of fizz, very nice. Sat in beautiful lounge with comfy sofas, staff very friendly and attentive. We have booked to stay for a night with our partners, having been shown some of the rooms which are beautiful, different types of rooms available. The hotel has various lovely lounge areas and outside... More

We stayed here for the night while attending a wedding. The hotel is beautiful, with excellent staff who make you feel really welcome. The room was simply gorgeous. Breakfast was delicious. Highly recommended and I'm sure it would be lovely and cosy in the winter.

Wonderful village with a very special hotel. We visited with friends after finding it through the internet. The weather was not to good but that did not spoil our visit. The rooms were wonderful and the service too. Special mention for the food. We shall defiantly be going back soon.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Pheasant has arguably one of the most beautiful Country Hotel settings in North Yorkshire, over looking the duck pond in the picturesque village of Harome. Originally converted from what had been the blacksmith's shop, village shop and barns, the main part of the hotel offers one single and eleven double rooms, whilst in the sheltered courtyard are two suites, the Pheasant Suite and Plum Cottage, each with its own private entrance, two further family rooms which each have two bedrooms and the heated indoor swimming pool. The stylish and highly individual interiors - designed by Director Jacquie Pern - give the accommodation a homely and welcome feel, which continues throughout the public areas: the lounge, bar, conservatory, dining room and terrace, providing a variety of options of where to eat or enjoy a drink. The Pheasant has established a reputation for great food under the capable hands of Chef/Director Peter Neville. Residents and non-residents can choose from a wide range of menus, all taking advantage of the wealth of local, seasonal produce, including a fixed price daily Market Menu, the A la Carte, and a Tasting Menu with optional matched wine package. In 2014 The Pheasant was awarded the Yorkshire Life "Small but Special Accommodation" Award. Seasonal and special breaks are available throughout the year. ... more   less
