We stayed here as part of our trip in North Yorkshire to celebrate our wedding anniversary! We really were underwhelmed by the standard of food served as it only offers a small menu choice which is fine normally except you have to pay a supplement for a steak and again a supplement if you want the very indifferent cheese board!! Our room was fine clean and tidy but very dated and the hotel lacks any real atmosphere which could easily be remeded with maybe a little background music etc! The staff were all excellent and looked after our every need and very apologetic after my meal was sent back as the steak was as tough as an old boot with chips that had definitely been reheated ( not triple fried) Sorry Grinkle Park but you need to up your game! Very clean, good size room. No lift to upper floors. Staff all very pleasant and friendly. Disappointed that the evening meal menu for our 3rd night was exactly the same as the first night! Expected 3 different menus! Also no non alcoholic wine/beer/cider available. Breakfast excellent. Lots of lounge areas and large gardens. Plenty of parking space.
Looks a grand building from the outside and it’s set in beautiful parkland, however once inside you see that it needs an awful lot of money to do necessary upkeep. We had a de-lux room and the sash windows required keeping open with a plastic wedge which occasionally dislodged. When this happened the window came crashing down. We mentioned this to the manager who said that the windows were the bane of his life. The wooden slats outside the windows, meant for maintenance, were rotten. All in all the staff were pleasant and meals generally presented well but didn’t live up to expectations, the exception was the porridge which was indescribable and when shown to the manager, said it was the worst thing he’d ever seen. Such a shame that the company who own this hotel are not prepared to spend the money to make this an outstanding venue…
Excellent hotel away from all the hustle and bustle Spacious room Great food Quiet location Ideal location to visit staithes for starting point for Cleveland way walks. Played snooker with provided cues but bring your own as they are pool cue’s
Family celebration. We had a 3 course lunch. The starter was good but not exceptional, the pudding was superb but the main course was a let down. I had the roast , but by the time it arrived the gravy on the food was starting to congeal and the roast potatoes seemed to be frozen. And the Yorkshire pudding was below par. On the positive side the grounds are beautiful and we all had a great time
Ideal place for a couple break. Good location and stunning grounds. A drive up to the hotel to die for. When we were there they were redecorating some common spaces. Major apologies but little actual disruption. Great staff. Nice country house hotel. Would recommend.
We stayed 2 nights midweek and it was a relaxing, quiet location well placed to visit the Moors and the coast. Sitting outside with a drink in the evening was delightful. The hotel has a (very) large snooker table in excellent condition - very enjoyable. The staff were, without exception, friendly and efficient - they make the hotel special. Our room was OK but rather hot and window opening was very limited. Evening meals were good and an interesting table de hote menu changes daily. We thought breakfast was rather ordinary and things advertised on the menu were not on the buffet. The estate is large with a long drive leading up from the road. The outlook from the hotel across a large lawn to the many mature trees is very relaxing. we tried to go for a walk through the trees, there are many paths marked on the map but most are so overgrown that a machete would be required!…
My husband and I stayed for 2 nights in this hotel for the second time. It is ideally located for visiting the North Yorkshire coast and is sensibly priced. The rooms are spotless, the food varied and well cooked and the service is exceptional. We have stayed in some much pricier uk hotels this year but this is the only one we would return to. The staff are welcoming and more than helpful. I have no hesitation in recommending this gem of a hotel.
We have been here quite a few times now and always come back feeling refreshed! Lovely accommodation and wonderful food. The staff are very friendly and genuinely helpful! Grinkle Park is so peaceful and has beautiful grounds
We have just returned from the most wonderful 2 night stay at Grinkle Park. Everything about it was fantastic. All the staff were so friendly and accommodating, nothing was too much trouble, it really was a breath of fresh air. The driveway leading up to the hotel were full of the most magnificent rhododendrums, it felt as if we were entering into a magical world. We absolutely loved it and would thoroughly recommend, in fact we are thinking about booking out one of the little cottages next to the hotel so that we can bring our furry friends with us. Excellent and well done to everybody you are all amazing! Thank you
