Really fine surroundings, you can pretend you are one of the aristocracy. Views are excellent and the rooms are spacious, especially bedrooms. The food was really good if a tad expensive. Service on entering the dining room is a bit erratic but they make up for that by serving excellent food. All the staff were very helpful. We would definitely... More

We had looked forward to a stay here, one of many of the Hand Picked Group we have used, for a long time. Unfortunately their Lounge room was closed for refurbishment which when your staying for a week tends to limit your options somewhat. Positives, the room was really lovely with a great view, although I think we were above... More

very pleasant afternoon tea with all the trimmings! staff friendly too. We will return at some point. Loved the china and the cozy lounge area. Very quintessential England! We explored the garden after tea, it was a little damp, but none the less enjoyable.

This is a beautiful hotel let down by what would appear to be staff training and supervision. The staff were always polite and tried to help, but the younger members seemed to lack some basic training. After placing an order for a cream tea we waited over an hour for it to be served. When it eventually arrived the coffee... More

Lovely helpful staff, huge room ( Leven ) with great view, fabulous grounds. Great base for North Yorkshire touring, Yarm is a friendly town with a high street worth a visit, Yorkshire coastline and North Yorkshire Moors picturesque. Bar meals only average, eat in Yarm or try the restaurant. Breakfast excellent.

20 of us had afternoon tea here to celebrate my friend's soon-to-be-born baby. It was a wonderful afternoon, the afternoon tea was delicious, the surroundings were beautiful and the staff (especially Gloria who looked after us) were so friendly and welcoming. A real treat, thank you - we will be back!

Stayed her nearly 2 years ago when a wing of the hotel was under wraps & scaffolding following fire damage, but all that has gone & the whole place looks splendid. A superb location, great style & comfort all for a very reasonable price. Popular with conferences, weddings & similar events, but neither detract from the care & comfort of... More

We went for a couple of nights to Crathorne Hall Hotel and had a really comfortable time. The room was lovely overlooking the back garden which was stunning. The en-suite bathroom was large with a bath and shower combined. Nice selection of toiletries. We enjoyed a delicious dinner and breakfast in the Levens restaurant. The hotel was particularly quiet in... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Built in 1906, with captivating views of the Leven Valley on the edge of the Yorkshire Moors, Crathorne Hall is at once grand and stately, warm and welcoming. Owned by the Dugdale family until 1977, the hall has played host to politicians, courted royalty and delighted socialites over the decades. Yet despite moving in stately circles, the house has stayed true to its roots as a place of entertainment and relaxation. Now it is yours to explore. Enjoy an overnight stay in one of our 37 bedrooms (17 of which have recently been refurbished following a £4 million restoration of the Hall's East Wing), plan your perfect day and take over the hotel for your wedding or inspire your delegates with our meeting facilities. ... more   less
