The outside may look a little tired but the inside is warm, cosy and inviting. Good, tasty food at a decent price. Friendly folks. It is worth booking in season as it is quite popular. Parking and outside seating available. Sunday lunches on a Sunday but also has a full menu on Sundays.

We have stayed here several years running and love it. The rooms are warm and comfortable, the superior ones have very spacious bathrooms with bath and separate shower. It would be hard to fault the food which is amazing. The rates are very reasonable especially with the 3 nights for 2 offer. Don't change anything! Looking forward to our next... More

We took advantage of a special two night offer to try out my wife's new car, and we planned to stay both nights. We arrived late (10 p.m.) having had dinner with friends somewhere in the back of beyond, and driving through heavy rain on unfamiliar roads. Collette greeted us on our arrival, and after a couple of stiff drinks,... More

A friend and I visited this in November 2015 after a drive in the Dales looking for somewhere nice to eat. We had called into a few other places along the way to be met with a slightly unfriendly atmosphere. On entering there was a friendly gentleman behind the bar, a roaring fire and the restaurant was semi empty but... More

On our last evening in aysgarth we decided to go out for a meal and saw the George and the dragon on our way to hawes earlier that day. We were not disappointed, we arrived an hour early for the evening sitting which starts serving at 6pm, however it was nice to sit near the open fire in a quaint... More

My friend and I stayed here for three nights recently as a base to attend a course elsewhere. Staff superbly friendly and helpful and atmosphere perfect ( even has a ghost!). A thoroughly enjoyable stay apart from three niggles, which combined to reduce a star. First the electric showers were poor and subject to the usual problems with varying water... More

We stayed here on 24/25 October for my husband's birthday. From arrival we were delighted with the warm welcome and even more delighted with the comfortable and classically designed room with four poster bed. A touch of luxury one wouldn't expect in rural Wensleydale. The evening meal was superb and the service friendly and swift. Next morning they had fulfilled... More

Upon arrival this place is your quintessential British pub & restaurant. All beams, nooks and crannies and paraphernalia. The selection of beers was good and we were seated at our booked time. First of all I'll say that all the food was served hot and looked delicious. My starter of goats cheese and beetroot tart was nice enough but not... More

Accommodation very good. We had room 3 with four poster and roll top bath. No real complaint just to say wallpaper next to window needs repasting. Loads of room, clean and everything we needed. Meal was excellent and average price. Staff and service also excellent. Would not hesitate to recommend and return.

We have just returned from our first meal at this Inn and it was a thoroughly enjoyable experience. The place had a really good atmosphere, and there was a wide selection of beers, wines and spirits. The service was prompt, the food absolutely delicious (and good value for money) and the waitress was very helpful and friendly. We were told... More
