Recently stayed at the Synosby Knoll. Have lodged (as we call it at work) at numerous establishments over a 15 year period and have to say this is by far the most pleasant. The staff can't be faulted and the food was amazing, resulting in me trying things I wouldn't normally eat! Room was very comfortable resulting in a first...

Been in a few Best Western hotels in recent years and felt that the brand was beginning to dip below the previous high standard. Visiting this hotel though, raised the bar again thanks to excellent staff, nice accommodation, high standards of decor and a really friendly atmosphere. A number of discrepancies between the in house info sheet which we found...

Having just returned from a three night stay at the hotel, everything was perfect, the room was spotless, the breakfasts were cooked to order, and on the Sunday evening we had room service lovely ploughmans, and first class deserts. We had a evening meal in the restaurant on Monday evening most enjoyable. We stay at the hotel several times a...

Came with friends on a secret escape deal. Pleasantly surprised the hotel with a lovely homely feel. It is very clean, with comfy bed. Staff are lovely and very helpful. The food is awesome with a different specials menu every night. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel and would definitely return.

Pros: 1. Blazing fast, free internet. Probably the best in my 10 years of business travel. Very well done! 2. Beautiful backyard view. Quintessential British country side view. Amazing. 3. Decent breakfast, although croissants feel a tad flat if you've just been to France. Otherwise very good. 4. Helpful staff, friendly. 5. Full service restaurant 6. Dogs welcomed Cons: 1....

We were here to explore Melton Mowbray and generally to chill out for the weekend. (3-5th March) We had an awful drive in pouring rain so we wanted the hotel to be welcoming. It was - we parked the car and met Vicky at reception. Vicky was very helpful in explaining all we needed to know including the security of...

As someone who travels a lot with work and spends at least a night a week in hotels you get quite jaded - however this hotel was a revelation: the staff were superb - friendly without being over the top, the dinner was excellent and the feature four poster room was superb.

This hotel has amazing attentive staff. They made us and our dog feel so welcome, giving us ideas of where to walk, which pubs in Melton Mowbray were dog friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. The food here is outstanding - we ate here two out of three nights and were not disappointed. If you want to take your dog...

We arrived early at Sysonby Knoll in the midst of a very busy time for the staff but we were warmly welcomed and met by Vicky on reception who couldn't have been more helpful. Everything was explained beautifully and, because we had to leave early the following morning she said that she would organise breakfast to be brought to our...

Stayed here recently for two nights. Had a nice room which was spotless. The food in the restaurant was first class and the bar and restaurant were comfortable, the restaurant overlooking the gardens. Ten minutes walk to centre of town. Had dog with us which was well received, plently of nearby exercise areas and dog friendly pubs in town. Staff...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Set on the edge of the attractive market town of Melton Mowbray, famed for Pork Pies and Stilton Cheese, Sysonby Knoll occupies its own secluded grounds of 5 acres with river frontage. We are ideally located on a main route into Melton Mowbray - just 1 mile out of the town centre. This Edwardian country house has been owned and run by the same family since 1965 and carries the highest quality rating of any hotel in the town, with a relaxed, family run atmosphere. The downstairs area of the hotel has had a complete refurbishment in early 2013, to include the reception, bar, coffee lounge, meeting room and restaurant. All of our 30 bedrooms are comfortably appointed with all the facilities you would expect at three star level, and the more spacious superior and executive bedrooms offer an even higher level of comfort with larger televisions and higher quality furnishings. Most of the bedrooms overlook the quiet central courtyard area, while two of our four poster bedrooms both command fine views over the gardens and river, with cattle grazing beyond. ... more   less
