A proper old school hotel, with lots of charm and friendly staff. I wish there were more hotels like this around rather than the faceless chains which are so abundant. I look forward to having an excuse to stay again.

After reading some of the reviews I was a little worried but arrived at The Royal Hotel with an open mind. I was greeted with smiles by a very friendly and kind receptionist who sweetly gave me a room with a bathtub as I asked for one. The hotel was clean and warm and the staff are so so friendly...

Had a nice relaxing weekend here, the room was lovely a big four poster bed with everything you could need. The bathroom was huge with twin sinks. Reception staff very polite and helpful. The stairs are very grand with chandeliers everywhere. If I had to nit pick I would say the TV is a bit small for the room and...

Stayed one night super helpful friendly staff building has lots of character but could do with a lick of paint. Never spoiled our stay though and frankly for the price it was worth every penny. We paid £65 for a large room with breakfast. Bargain

I stayed for our works do. For me the hotel is shocking, old, tired and needs investment. The toilet seat was broken and had loads of flies in the window. That said it's cheap and I guess you get what you pay for.

I stayed here for a couple of days with family to attend a christening in a nearby village. We booked this hotel due to location convenience and after reading the reviews wondered if we'd made the right decision.. Turns out we totally had!!! The hotel although slightly dated in appearance and probably in need of a touch of love or...
