The restaurant food was pretty average. Very poor quality of room. Broken window, stained carpets and a sofa so warn out there was hardly any structure left to it. We were staying there as a treat for my daughter’s birthday and were looking forward to a well earned spa break. After asking how we go about using the spa, we were told to just call down from our room to find out if was busy before going down. For the first hour and a half there was no answer, so after going to the spa reception we were told we should have put our names on a waiting list!! This was the first we’d heard of it, but added our names then. We were advised to go back to our rooms and they would call us when it was our turn. By 9pm we still had no call and we’re then told it was closing. Our room was pretty poor, but it wasn’t worth calling to ask to be moved, as I’d already upgraded to a suite. The receptionist was very apologetic and did offer to find the duty manager, however I had to leave early in the morning for work and so said I would email them. Well when I received a response from the pa to the manager, I was appalled at her response. I was not looking to be compensated, but could not believe all they did was try to justify all of my points. Not that we would go back, but the email most certainly did not come across as the customer is right!!! I have showed my friends and family the email trail and they are flabbergasted. They haven’t even had the decency to come back to my last one. Therefore, after nearly three months, I am having to give them this poor review. I am not normally one to complain, however, was so, so disappointed to have not been able to have made a happy memorable break away for my daughter and myself and in hindsight, i’m sure she would have just preferred if we’d just given her the £200 spent in cash to treat herself.…
I had an enjoyable week here many years ago when the hotel was a little 'faded' but had great victorian charm. Since then, the hotel has had a modernising makeove and is now very corporate. The previous spacious gardens which were a feature of the hotel have been largely taken over by a large upmarket housing development. Bathrooms now only have showers and the double bedroom only has a tiny desk, one armchair and limited wardrobe and drawer space. The hot water system is unreliable; one day it took 10 minutes for hot water to appear at the basin and on out last morning the system could not be repaired and we had to wash and shave using hot water from the kettle. Food was good and staff helpful.
Room 201. Draughty double glazing with missing catch. Loo short flush button not working. Shower drain cover loose. Magnifying mirror loose. Minimal tea and coffee. No robes/slippers. Indian restaurant - quirky best describes it. Limited menu, English desserts and if you sit in bar area, you see all the gym people traffic, in their various states of attire! Food is excellent. On exiting the lift to the basement, there is no apparent sign visible to direct you to the Indian. Same goes for Level 2 - there are no directions on the main board showing rooms 201-205.
I booked a 1 night stay here for my husbands birthday in their Belcourt Suite. Wow it was absolutely amazing! I generally cannot fault it at all. It can be accessed by stairs or a lift and is wheelchair accessible, the front door is a double door which goes into a foyer, it’s large and to the right is a door leading to the lounge and to the left is a door leading to the master bedroom. Going right into the lounge you are greeted with wonderful Views of the beach and sea, a sofa (which can be a bed) and chairs and a dining table. There is blue tooth so you can play your music in every room even at different volumes, there is a coffee machine, kettle with a huge selection of different teas and a fridge with a mini bar which is all Included!! Even champagne. From the lounge there is a door into the bathroom which has a large shower, no seating but you could bring tour own shower chair or even ask at booking if they have one, 2 sinks and then a beautiful bath in the window looking out at sea. In the bathroom there is another door that brings you into the master bedroom, it has a huge bed, super kingsize I would say and very comfortable with again lovely views of the sea and beach, there is a small dressing table and 2 bedside tables, the wardrobe however I would say was on the small size but it was fine for us. The room is massive and the blinds are all controlled via switches which I thought was awesome. If you do use a wheelchair you can easily get around the suite especially bedroom and lounge but the bathroom maybe a little tricky but with some help it can be done. I would 100% stay in this suite again and can’t wait until the day we can, if you get the chance I would say do it especially as I don’t think the price is too bad for the best suite in the hotel!…
Lovely hotel, we stayed in room 109 which the hotel says has a garden view this is not the case all you can see is the roof of the canopy over the hotel restaurant. the hallway outside the room smells strongly of curry which permeates into the room. due to it being above the Holy Pundit Asian restaurant. other than that the bed is really comfy, the shower is good, the room was really clean the breakfast was excellent so was the service & staff.
