Stayed here on an impromptu solo trip. I literally booked it a few hours before arriving and was shocked that it was so reasonably priced for the 4th of July weekend. No, it’s not the fanciest hotel but for the price I feel it’s a great value. Nice, helpful staff available 24/7 and the hotel was clean. It has a nice historic feel to it and a restaurant on-site (I didn’t have a chance to eat there though). Unfortunately there was a street fair going on with both sides blocked off, so I did have trouble finding a way to the hotel as someone non-local. The streets were still blocked off the next day so I also didn’t get to explore the downtown like I would have liked. All things considered, it’s a nice hotel and a pleasant surprise in a smaller area outside of Columbus. The room was clean, bed comfy, bathroom well stocked with toiletries and robes, fast wifi, TV, etc. My only complaints are there is no mini fridge (and being an older hotel it got a little hot so even though I placed the food I brought into the ice bucket overnight the ice melted and my food got water in it so I had to throw it away), it’s a little noisy due to thinner walls and it could use a few upgrades—the price and staff make it a solid 4 stars for me still. All in all, cute and charming—would definitely stay again.

The Granville Inn is is a grand house built in 1924, with all of the charm you might expect, with large oak rooms and detailed carvings, stones, a large staircase, etc. It sits at the edge of Granville, Ohio, which is itself a picturesque small town. We visited in winter, but there is a large stone patio for warmer weather. Our room had a bedroom area and a separate smaller living room with flat panel television. The bathroom was large and had a cool marble floor with a basketweave pattern. There is parking outside, but one night we did have to compete with a larger party and ended up parking on the street about 100 yards away (it was an easy walk, so no problem). Wifi is included in the price and worked just fine for us. We had a nice dinner here (reviewed separately). We are not ordinarily big breakfast people. They had K-cup coffee makers on our floor, so coffee was easily available. We ended up having breakfast in town, which involved a pleasant walk past the attractive town buildings. Denison University sits on the hill overlooking the town, so many visitors may be there because of the school. We were just there for a nice getaway weekend and enjoyed ourselves very much.

Small-town America at its' finest. Situated on the far East end of the main street through Granville, this quiet location is well situated and nicely appointed. The hotel is close to a number of restaurants, small shops, and the area is very walkable. The main entrance is covered for arrivals during bad weather and the reception desk is right inside the door. We were greeted warmly and found our room ready on arrival. We had a corner room with a view out to the main street and towards downtown. The room was clean, had a small closet with robes, and a reasonably large bathroom. The bed was very comfortable and the room was quiet at night. There was a nice side chair and ottoman that was very comfortable for reading. The only bummer was that the fireplace was not functional. Our two-night stay was very enjoyable and comfortable with the staff being responsive to our questions and our needs.

Wow, this place was a great choice to celebrate a special friends 85th birthday! When we entered for our special night, Paul (management) greeted us like we were family and then took us to the best table in the house. Our server was fabulous as she went over the menu and was extremely polished. The wine list was extensive and they also offered a lot of wonderful choices by the glass. The food was exceptional from the French onion soup to the halibut and short ribs. Tons of ambiance here with the fireplace roaring and the lighting subdued and comfortable. Honestly, I think this might be the best place to celebrate a special night out in all of the Columbus area! Granville is very fortunate to have this gem!

This was one of the worst experiences. After being told no reservations were required to sit outside on the patio as it was first come first serve and guaranteed if we came early we could easily be seated outside. Upon arriving an extremely rude waiter said they were only reservations despite what the manager confirmed on the phone. Very disrespectful and not apologetic. Do not waste your time and $.

The Granville Inn is a 100-year old inn that's been successfully updated with modern amenities and conveniences. We were there overnight for a wedding and were very pleased with our room. It was small (as rooms in older properties tend to be) but immaculate and well-appointed. There was no morning coffee, but I expect that's a concession to the pandemic. We didn't eat at the restaurant (we were at the hotel-catered wedding reception where the food was very good) but it looked wonderful and was full on a Saturday night...a good sign. It's a short walk from downtown Granville, which is a pleasure (though I wish the coffee shop was open on Sunday morning...I did find one a 5-minute drive away). A word about a couple of the recent low (and, I think, unfair) ratings here. Old inns like this have a lot of character and their share of quirks. If you're accustomed to the bland "sameness" of the franchise motels, this (or any other inn or BandB) might not be for you. On the other hand, if you're in the market for a clean, comfortable room at an interesting property with a great staff...you'll love your stay here.

Over priced hotel. No breakfast, restaurant closed over a busy holiday weekend. Staff overly friendly to try to make up for their mistakes. Reservations for 2 nights, key card didn't work next day. Won't be staying again.

1.  We were first not happy with the fact that no breakfast or room service was available. I understand COVID has been an extremely difficult time for businesses but then the room per night should be reduced.  I guess what I don't understand is how dinner is available to the public but yet those who are booking an evening to stay at the Inn have no breakfast provided. I think that is sort of backwards - those who are booking accommodations should come first as most hotels/bed and breakfast businesses offer some sort of breakfast.   2.  Another item we were not happy about was the pillows - they made for an very extremely rough night - we did not get a good night's sleep.  The pillows were like sleeping on nothing.  3.  In room 224 where we stayed the vent where the heat came on kept making a loud banging sound every few minutes - it was awful 4.  When we arrived in our room it was absolutely freezing - I would think if you know if guests are arriving the room would be at a comfortable temperature not feel like a meat locker.   5.  When we went to check out - we left our key in the basket - and zero mention of asking how was our stay.   I was expecting to say all I had to say above when I checked out but was never even asked.  We placed our key in the basket all that was said was have a good day.  6. Once I complained about breakfast when we checked in we were told coffee would provided and a breakfast bar. So, we Come downstairs next morning and it's a basket of cereal bars - no coffee - no attendant at the desk to help. I find it extremely ridiculous as well that we got an email the day after your stay to email back with feedback which I tried to do to the email they provided and it bounced back as blocked.. is this a joke?!? I don't mean to be critical but quite often we stay at a Bed and Breakfast, Inn, or high end hotel for a get away and to see a place so highly reviewed & recommended I just expected more. Also, pretty sure our bed was not a king bed... definitely quite smaller than the King bed we have at home. I have always wanted to stay in Granville for the night but this was a huge disappointment. Next time we will try the Buxton Inn or the Welsh B&B.

Dear Mel4osu, Thank you very much for your candid review of your recent stay at our hotel. Your feedback is extremely valuable to us, as we strive to improve with each and every stay. I greatly appreciate your comments about aspects of your stay that did not meet your expectations. In taking great care of our charming Inn, our main priority is to be able to offer a very well-maintained and comfortable atmosphere. I am sorry that some aspects of the room affected your sleep & the temperature of your room was unwelcoming. Our ecofriendly HVAC units in every room are designed to turn on when motion is active in the room and to conserve energy when the room is vacant. With the current Covid-19 pandemic we ensure our guests and staff stay safe, so we try to allow for at least 24 hours between occupancy of each room when we can. In regard to our Covid-19 dining hours & service changes like many other businesses, we have been affected by local and state mandates and we hope to be able to provide our full services again when safe. We do have our most up to date dining hours and service offerings listed on our website. I hope that you will give the Inn another chance at that time. I do apologize that this experience did not meet your expectations.

Spent a lovely weekend at the Inn. We traveled from Cleveland to meet family from Kentucky and this was the perfect town in the middle of Ohio. Had a great dinner the first evening at the Broadway cafe right down the street . Saturday we ate a fantastic meal at the Inn served by Wendy . She was absolutely charming . She has worked at the Inn for over 40 years . She showed such enthusiasm for her job and made our evening just delightful. The Inn was comfortable and cozy and was a welcome respite from the rest of the world .
