Detailed Reviews
The Granville Inn is is a grand house built in 1924, with all of the charm you might expect, with large oak rooms and detailed carvings, stones, a large staircase, etc. It sits at the edge of Granville, Ohio, which is itself a picturesque small town. We visited in winter, but there is a large stone patio for warmer weather.
Our room had a bedroom area and a separate smaller living room with flat panel television. The bathroom was large and had a cool marble floor with a basketweave pattern. There is parking outside, but one night we did have to compete with a larger party and ended up parking on the street about 100 yards away (it was an easy walk, so no problem). Wifi is included in the price and worked just fine for us.
We had a nice dinner here (reviewed separately). We are not ordinarily big breakfast people. They had K-cup coffee makers on our floor, so coffee was easily available. We ended up having breakfast in town, which involved a pleasant walk past the attractive town buildings.
Denison University sits on the hill overlooking the town, so many visitors may be there because of the school. We were just there for a nice getaway weekend and enjoyed ourselves very much.

This is a very stately and beautiful inn, well located right at the end of the main commercial strip. We stayed in a nice sized room overlooking the back of the property. Quiet and comfortable stay. Unfortunately the restaurant was closed while we were there, and only coffee was available (on request) in the AM. I would also recommend staying in the largest/best room you can afford, as it makes a difference in the quality of your experience in this historic property.

Stayed here on an impromptu solo trip. I literally booked it a few hours before arriving and was shocked that it was so reasonably priced for the 4th of July weekend.
No, it’s not the fanciest hotel but for the price I feel it’s a great value. Nice, helpful staff available 24/7 and the hotel was clean. It has a nice historic feel to it and a restaurant on-site (I didn’t have a chance to eat there though).
Unfortunately there was a street fair going on with both sides blocked off, so I did have trouble finding a way to the hotel as someone non-local. The streets were still blocked off the next day so I also didn’t get to explore the downtown like I would have liked.
All things considered, it’s a nice hotel and a pleasant surprise in a smaller area outside of Columbus. The room was clean, bed comfy, bathroom well stocked with toiletries and robes, fast wifi, TV, etc. My only complaints are there is no mini fridge (and being an older hotel it got a little hot so even though I placed the food I brought into the ice bucket overnight the ice melted and my food got water in it so I had to throw it away), it’s a little noisy due to thinner walls and it could use a few upgrades—the price and staff make it a solid 4 stars for me still.
All in all, cute and charming—would definitely stay again.

This was one of the worst experiences. After being told no reservations were required to sit outside on the patio as it was first come first serve and guaranteed if we came early we could easily be seated outside. Upon arriving an extremely rude waiter said they were only reservations despite what the manager confirmed on the phone. Very disrespectful and not apologetic. Do not waste your time and $.

Small-town America at its' finest. Situated on the far East end of the main street through Granville, this quiet location is well situated and nicely appointed. The hotel is close to a number of restaurants, small shops, and the area is very walkable.
The main entrance is covered for arrivals during bad weather and the reception desk is right inside the door. We were greeted warmly and found our room ready on arrival. We had a corner room with a view out to the main street and towards downtown.
The room was clean, had a small closet with robes, and a reasonably large bathroom. The bed was very comfortable and the room was quiet at night. There was a nice side chair and ottoman that was very comfortable for reading. The only bummer was that the fireplace was not functional.
Our two-night stay was very enjoyable and comfortable with the staff being responsive to our questions and our needs.

First thoughts pulling up to the Inn: What a beautiful building and so convenient & walkable.
We arrived at approximately 3:30 on a Thursday. There were two other cars in the parking lot. We easily checked in to our booked King room. This took approximately 3 minutes total, if that. We walked up to room 212–second floor, all the way at the end of a hall, overlooking the back parking lot. The room was cute, bed looked smaller than a King but I assumed it looked that way because I’m used to how my king-sized bed looks at home. We walked back downstairs to get our baggage, parked the car then walked to various restaurants in town for drinks.
That evening we walked back to the room & when I finally got into bed & was CERTAIN this was not a King-sized bed. My husband had still not said anything.
The next morning, after bumping knees & sleeping much closer than we are used to, my husband said angrily, “is this a Queen bed?!? Why did you book this?” I knew it was a queen but referred to my online reservation (booked directly through the website). I walked downstairs to get coffee (b/c there is currently no Keurig or coffee maker on each floor as a previous reviewer had indicated). At that time, when asking the front-desk clerk for coffee, I said “I do not want to change rooms, we’ve already unpacked, but I booked a King room but we were given a Queen. I should be charged for a Queen.” She asked my room number, typed a few keys on the keyboard and said “it is a King, we have European Kings” & before I could refute, she was up headed to the kitchen our individual cups of coffee. I immediately looked this up on my phone & a European King is (roughly) equivalent to a US Queen. Now, the website doesn’t mention this; BUT, when booking on the Inn’s website it shows room types & 2 beds that look different. Room 212 was definitely the bed (headboard) shown on the Queen room. I paid for a King. If you want a King, go elsewhere. If you’re okay receiving a Queen, even paying a premium price, I suppose stay here.
Also, there was no breakfast. This surprised me. Even small hotels & large chains still have food offerings (even if minimal and bagged individually). There was not a choice if anything here.
We did eat dinner at the restaurant Friday night. The food was good. We sat outside. No complaints.
My opinion,: Spend your money at Buxton Inn (DIRECTLY across the street) if you want to stay walkable. Or at The Welsh Hills Inn (where I wish I had booked).

I had wanted to visit for over 20 years, it appears to be a beautiful Inn online. The room was clean and nicely appointed. What I did not expect is just how small the rooms are. I had seen several videos online showing lovely rooms with plenty of space. My room was half the size of my home bedroom and is strictly for sleeping, no room for a desk or anything else. It was so small I kept hitting my legs on the bed just walking around the room. (There were 2 of us in the room, I do not recommend this). I have stayed in many “boutique hotels” in my travels, in this case it just means small. Check in was brief and easy enough but the receptionist offered no information on the hotel or dining options available at the Inn. I can finally say I got the chance to stay here, I just wish it had been a better experience.

Visited the Plates restaurant at Cinnamon Grand on a Saturday afternoon, which turned out to be a great experience. From the chic new decor to the delicious food ( rarely happens at a buffet but EVERYTHING I tried tasted so good) everything was top notch but the real surprise turned out to be the smart, attentive and courteous service we received.
Special mention and shout-out to the in house tea expert Anuradha who took much trouble in not only serving but educating us on interesting facts about various teas!

At long last, the inn has been restored and is welcoming guests, both for overnight stays as well as for meals. We love the tavern and bar area. Cozy, woody. One of the best reubens around...Lucky Cat rye bread, corned beef made in house. Friendly wait staff and consistently good food.

Absolutely delightful. The ambience is outstanding, the service excellent and the food excellent. We had been there a few years ago and decided to try it again. Ava, our server was attentive without being intrusive. I had the encrusted walleye and my wife had salmon. Presentation was different and good.

I really can't answer that. I will say we did not see any on our recent visit.
Good morning,
Yes, if you go to Licking Park District website they have a lot the park maps, etc. for trails throughout the county. We also have some maps at the Inn for guests as well. Thank you.
Yes, a great comfy chair and ottoman in the room we were in....
No I don't think so.
Hello, yes there are a lot of bike trails in Licking County. As far as bike rentals if you visit Escape to Licking County site there is some information on there. Thank you and we look forward to you visiting Granville.
