We'd had lunch here before, but this is the first time that we've stayed. And it definitely won't be the last... Lovely staff, very good service and excellent breakfasts. The buffet is very good, with loads of fresh fruit and fresh juices - and the cooked breakfasts are superb. I had Eggs Benedict both mornings and it was absolutely delicious....

Just popped in for a late lunch and to kill time before the mainland ferry. What a wonderful old building, inside and out. Full of character and history. I only had a sandwich and a pot of Ear Gray. A lovely ham and honey mustard mayonnaise, with which they served a little tossed salad and side nibbles. Delightful. Very good...

We went for their Winter Warmer offer in a DeLuxe room and what a wonderful two night stay we had. We just couldn't fault any aspect of The George. David M, I was made aware of your short visit to The George late Saturday evening, and of your behaviour towards our staff. As General Manager, I fully support their actions in refusing to serve you and your party alcohol beyond 23.00hrs. Please be aware that within the terms of our licensing, it is illegal for us to serve alcohol...

We booked 2 nights at short notice in between Xmas and New Year. Very friendly efficient staff (who returned a lost item to us promptly by post), excellent food in the evening, lovely bar with log fire. It's in a great spot to watch the ferries come and go and just appreciate the slower pace of life (or so it...

New Year's Day supper at The George. We are 2 couples and enjoyed a truly delicious supper in the Conservatory restaurant. We chose mainly from the Snug Sundays menu which offered a limited but tasty selection of dishes for a very reasonable £18. We first shared a fabulous bottle of the 'house champagne' Billicart Salmon ( a rare treat on...

First impressions were good. The entrance hall was beautifully decorated with a large Christmas tree.
