#4 of 6 hotels in Ryde
Conveniently located on the esplanade this Victorian hotel has unique sea views and benefits from being on a level seafront position. The beach is close by and the shops and holiday attractions of the well-known resort of Ryde are only a short walk away. The hotel is also well-situated for buses, taxis, trains and the hovercraft, so offers the ideal base to travel all around the island as well as over to Portsmouth with its rich maritime history. The seafront position lends itself to some wonderful views from the restaurant and lounges - the perfect place to sit back and relax. A car is ideal for getting around the undulating roads of the Isle of Wight and there is a plethora of things to see and do for all ages. Whether touring historic houses or visiting natural adventure parks, watching the yachting action and festivities of Cowes week, or just relaxing on one of the islands many beaches, you are sure to enjoy the island’s unique charm.

We had a lovely stay here, the hotel has kept all of its charm from days gone by , the sea view room was very spacious and comfortable with everything needed for a pleasant stay. The staff are exceptionally nice and friendly and very helpful, we had a 3 course meal and breakfast which were both excellent. We will definitely be back and would recommend this hotel.

This was a Travel zoo offer and it was very good value. Whilst the room was a little tired, and windows could have had a clean, this was made up by the friendly service, charming atmosphere, and utterly superb evening meal, which was part of the deal. The food was outstanding. My fiend had the sea bass on mussel broth, which to me did not sound appealing, but boy did she enjoy it. She said it was the best fish dish she had ever had. The rest of us had T Bone steak, which was tender. Breakfast was very good as well. Excellent location, parking available very close by, and they booked car ferry for us at discounted rate.

A traditional seaside hotel with excellent mainland links and close to the ferries. Tea it’s old, but well maintained, clean, tidy and very helpful staff who couldn’t do enough. The bedroom was comfortable and what you would expect for a 3 star hotel- everything worked and was super clean. The food was standard solid pub grub menu, with portions to feed you up. Also, it wasn’t that expensive, in fact, very reasonable considering some venues on the island. A great place to stay for a quick island get away, would go back again.

My second stay in this lovely old fashioned traditional hotel. It’s located right on the seafront a couple of minutes walk from the hovercraft, pier & Esplanade station. Staff are very friendly & helpful. My room was ready when I arrived at 1.30pm so was able to check in early. Very comfortable, quiet, spacious room, kept spotlessly clean during my stay. Breakfast was included in the price & there was plenty of choice with staff happy to accommodate if you wanted to swap items. Evening meal is also very good & reasonably priced - you just need to remember to book a table at reception before 6pm & to make things easier during the pandemic you need to give your order at the same time. Reception staff were very happy to keep hold of my luggage after check out until later in the day. Only downside to my stay was a group of 6 male cyclists who thought it acceptable to walk around the public areas of the hotel without a mask - I don’t know if they were challenged by staff but if not the evils they were getting off everyone else hopefully left them suitably chastised!!

Hello cazzaco Thank you for your review. We pride ourselves on our guest experience and great choice of meals including breakfast. Because we have taken on so much of the COVID Secure responsibilities seriously and in line with our high standards, we do sometimes have a guest who relaxes so much that they forget their mask. This is easily put right with a small nudge from our team and always well received with mask popped back on swiftly. We look forward to welcoming you again soon!

The hotel was located across the road from the hovercraft station. It was interesting to see them come and go from the bedroom. Noise was not an issue even though there were Hovercraft's and traffic. No car park so had to use the public one down the road. We paid for a car park pass so that we could use the majority of car parks around the island. Staff were friendly and helpful despite the restrictions. The bar was open for residents so we made use of the outside rear patio area whilst the sun was out. Food at the hotel was superb. Bedroom was a good size so all in all a good stay and would return to this hotel.
